With over 100 years of service to its credit, St. Albert Fire Services is an integrated service that plays an integral role in shaping and serving our community by providing fire suppression, technical rescue and emergency medical services, hazardous materials mitigation, fire inspection, fire investigation, public education and fire dispatch to the City of St Albert.
The Opportunity
The City of St. Albert has an exciting opportunity for an experienced, dynamic and progressive Deputy Chief - Operations. Reporting to the Director, Emergency Services (Fire Chief) the Deputy Chief -Operations will be responsible for the development and delivery of a high quality integrated services. Working closely with four Platoon Chiefs, this leader’s primary responsibilities include: aligning the operational activities of the department with the achievement of strategic goals, quality assurance, team development, and liaising with other emergency services stakeholders on behalf of the department.

**Qualifications**:

- A degree in Emergency Management, Business, Public Administration, or related field.
- A minimum 10 years of experience as an officer within a professional emergency services department, including 5 years experience in a senior officer role, or equivalent.

A suitable combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience or knowledge of delivering Emergency Medical Care
- NFPA 1001, 1002, 1021, 1521 Incident Command System 400 required. Blue Card Command Required.
- Ability to lead emergency services teams in a variety of situations, effectively managing support processes as well as developing and implementing improvements to facilitate excellence in integrated service delivery.
- A thorough understanding of the collective agreement and extensive skills to deal with ongoing labour management concerns.
- A thorough understanding of the emergency services function, with the ability to react effectively in high stress and potentially life-threatening situations.
- Knowledgeable in leading technologies for emergency services.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License. A personal vehicle is required for use at work.

Hours of Work
We offer a compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 5:00 with a regular day off every two weeks).
Compensation
$126,292.17 to $149,745.19 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a comprehensive benefit package including a defined benefit pension plan.
