**Medical Secretary/Assistant**

We are looking for an energetic, organized, efficient, professional Medical Secretary/Assistant to join our busy and growing office. We are seeking those with relevant training and/or equivalent experience. We use Telus Practice Solutions EMR. This is a full time position.

Occupation Tasks
- Answering and returning phone calls/messages, and booking patient appointments appropriately based on triaging principles.
- Greeting/checking in patients, and updating demographic and health card information as needed.
- Transmitting information or documents using computer, mail, or fax.
- Performing administrative support tasks such as managing third party billing/collection, and ensuring third party forms are ready for physician completion.
- Establishing and maintaining patient records, and ensuring all relevant information is documented in the records.
- Preparing and sending mail, processing and scanning all incoming mail and faxes.
- Checking for patient reminders.
- Moving patients into examination rooms, and preparing the patient and room for the physician visit as required.
- Stocking office supplies and equipment as needed.
- Maintaining all common and shared clinic spaces in a clean and organized fashion.

Occupation Tools and Technology
- **Tools** - Desktop computers, Calculators or accessories, Scanner/Fax machines
- **Technology** - Accounting software, Electronic Medical Records (Telus - Practice Solutions), Data base user interface and query software, Calendar and scheduling software, Compliance software

Worker Requirements
- **Customer and Personal Service** - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- **Clerical** - Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
- **English Language** - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Experience
- **Required Level of Education** - minimum College preferred

**Additional Requirements**: Ability to work some evenings, and possibly half shifts some weekends in future.
