**Term**:_**This is a 12-18-month maternity leave coverage position.**_This is a Providence Health Care temporary, non-contract (union-excluded) appointment.All research positions are dependent on grant funding continuing to be available.

**Who We Are**
Bridging the gap between data, research, and care, CHÉOSis a collaboration between cross-disciplinary scientists and qualified research staff evaluating the effectiveness of health interventions at the population level.
The CTNis a collaborative network focused on generating knowledge on the prevention, treatment, and management of HIV, hepatitis C, and other sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs) through scientifically sound clinical trials, research, and other interventions.
From assessing the cost-effectiveness of a new drug or treatment option to informing policy decisions that change how care is delivered, CHÉOS and the CTN seek to improve health outcomes for all.

**The Role**
The Human Resources (HR) Manager oversees the people and culture functions of CHÉOS and the CTN. This role supports and advises leadership in effective organizational behavior and people strategies to further the growth and success of the Centre. In partnership with leadership, the HR Manager supports faculty and personnel in all things people, and maintains relationships with a wide variety of individuals and agencies, both internal and external to CHÉOS/CTN.
With the support of junior HR personnel, the HR Manager oversees the following areas:
- **People, Culture & Morale**:_
- Lead initiatives to contribute to a positive work environment that stimulates excellence, creativity, professionalism, collegiality, and well-being
- Coach managers on staff performance management and development
- Advise faculty and leadership on compensation, benefits, and employment details for prospective and current staff
- Act as a resource and confidential point of contact for internal conflict resolution and provide support to departmental managers as necessary
- Succession plan for retiring employees
- **Leadership**:_
- Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to junior HR staff
- Ensure junior staff are supported in their own professional growth
- **Personnel updates**:_
- Hires, departures, and leaves
- Delegating the administration of changes in FTEs and employee details
- New appointments and contract renewals
- **Recruitment**:_
- Job descriptions/postings
- Advertisement of vacancies
- Interviews and reference checks
- Job offers and compensation
- **Onboarding and departures**:_
- Oversee onboarding, including welcome and orientation packages, workplace and culture orientation
- Oversee offboarding, including exit interviews for departing staff
- **Policies, Procedures, Benefits**:_
- Participate in policy development as it pertains to people and culture in the workplace
- Advise staff and faculty on employee benefit and pension plans, and Terms and Conditions of Employment
- Maintain familiarity of BC Employment Standards Act and the BC Human Rights Code to ensure Centre HR practices are in alignment
**Supervision Received**
Reports to the Director of Operations/Chief Administrative Officer.
**Supervision Given**
Directly supervises junior HR staff.
**Workplace**
The position will be working at CHÉOS located in St. Paul's Hospital and will be provided with appropriate workspace. Flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement (in line with PHC and CHÉOS policy) may be provided.
