The Staff Educator is preferred to be a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) and is primarily responsible for staff education across all departments. The position will form part of the Nursing Admin team and reports directly to the Clinical Placement Coordinator. The Staff Educator will mentor others in the organization by providing the tools for others to become trainers themselves in specialty areas. The person holding this position will practice within the established standards as determined by the organization’s mission, policies and procedures, the Fixing Long-Term Care Homes Act and; the Resident’s Bill of Rights and the College of Nurses of Ontario.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Identifies the educational and training needs in the facility to ensure quality of care and services;
- Designs, develops and coordinates the delivery of Staff Development Programs to
- meet these needs;
- Ensures good resident outcome and satisfaction through training needs of staff;
- Develops general orientation and ongoing educational programs based on learning

needs of staff;support;of the staff;appropriate objectives and standards;are trained appropriately;the program;endeavors to promote it;activation and environmental departments;
- Communicates the planned program to encourage participation, involvement and
- Provides programs to enhance the working life and increase knowledge and esteem
- Evaluates the effectiveness and quality of Staff Development Program against
- Receives feedback from staff and department heads on training programs;
- Monitors new technology, trends in the delivery of each service and ensures staff
- Maintains staff attendance in-service records and quality management activities for
- Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights / Governing Principles and
- Establishes adequate resource material on health related books, for nutrition,
- Performs clinical teaching sessions on the units as needed;
- Participates in QI / RCT meetings
- Ensures all mandatory education components in the LTCHA and CARF Accreditation standards are met
- Other duties as assigned.
