Job Title: Educational Assistant - Support Staff

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Assistant to join our team at the York Region District School Board. As an Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs, working collaboratively with teachers and other educational staff to deliver daily programs and provide care to students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with occupational therapy, physiotherapy, academic, and behavioral programs approved by the Board.
  • Support students with special needs in a classroom setting, providing individualized attention and care as needed.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other educational staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure a smooth and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in supporting students with special needs.

Requirements:

  • Community College Educational Support Diploma or related field of study.
  • Minimum of one year of successful experience supporting individuals with special needs preferred.
  • Proven ability to work as a team member, adapt to changing situations, and cope with stressful scenarios.
  • Capacity to engage with diverse communities and utilize consultation techniques.
