- Primary duties include:

- Establish team direction and provide a vision of the future for the team, including setting annual goals and performance objectives. Manage the performance of team members, ensuring accountability and achievement of job requirements.
- Responsible for workforce planning, including determining optimal resourcing level and specific resources/skillsets (job design) required for the team to achieve the goals and performance targets.
- Recruit high-caliber talent and ensure effective onboarding and training for new team members.
- Exercise delegated approval authority for tax status, prior year corrections, compassionate property tax penalty relief, and other tax relief decisions as applicable.
- Collaborate with the team and others to address novel, complex and escalated files and issues including responding to Councillor and customer inquiries.
- Represent Assessment & Tax at committee and council meetings to provide regular (currently semi-annual) reports on the work undertaken by the team.
- Represent the team in relationships with external customers, external interested parties (e.g., other organizations, industry groups), and internal interested parties (e.g., other teams and business units).
- Prepare and contribute to operational plans that ensure timely, efficient, high-quality completion of work in adherence to the broader Assessment & Tax plan. Assign resources to the work.
- Lead innovation and service improvement in the team, including championing the need for change and sponsoring specific initiatives.

**Qualifications**
- Juris Doctor (J.D.), Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized institution plus at least 5 years of experience; OR
- A degree in Public Policy or a related discipline plus at least 8 years of diverse and relevant experience.
- Previous leadership experience is required.
- Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
- Experience interpreting and analyzing legislation and policy is an asset.
- Success in this position requires well-developed communication and engagement skills, critical thinking and influencing skills, and the ability to collaborate with others to develop appropriate strategies and solutions.

- Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
