The Volunteer Development Specialist is part of the Volunteer Development Team. The position supports and engages with volunteer coordinators, staff partners and Raiser Edge data entry staff to ensure efficient and timely data entry and reporting requirements to gather information and identify immediate and long-term compliance and volunteer development needs. The position is also responsible for training through best practices and recommended methods. In addition, it analyzes data for quality and/or integrity purposes by documenting and reporting issues and defects.

**In this role, you will**:

- Update Volunteer Opportunities page to reflect current vacancies, keeping a record of YMCA volunteer postings on external websites, and attending outreach events as needed
- Build relationships with staff, volunteers and community members by providing updates during all volunteer coordinator meetings, supporting field staff during special events, and participating in site visits
- Report on volunteer metrics and trends in volunteering including monthly metrics, compliance and insurance reports, and quarterly active lists.
- Support Volunteer Development with Association wide events, including National Volunteer Week, International Day of the Volunteer, International Volunteer Managers Day, Conferences, celebrations and ceremonies, and special events and training
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**You bring**:

- Post-secondary education in related discipline or equivalent experience
- Volunteer experience or experience working with volunteers is a strong asset
- Previous experience and knowledge of Raiser’s Edge, SmartSheet and Delivra an asset
- Previous experience generating reports using a data base
- Excellent proficiency in Excel
- Strong time management
- Ability to meet deadlines and to work independently to perform regular duties
- Excellent attention to detail
- Sound judgment with the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging
