**General Accountability**:
**Key Job Functions**:

- Supporting, motivating, and managing a highly-skilled team of human rights professionals in a hybrid work environment
- Overseeing the day to day guidance and assistance being provided to all levels of TTC management, staff and unionized employees across the organization on a wide variety of human rights, accommodation, accessibility and workplace violence related issues
- Overseeing, investigating, analyzing and resolving the more complex complaints regarding alleged violations of the Ontario Human Rights Code (“Code”), the Occupational Health and Safety Act (“OHSA”) as it relates to workplace violence and workplace harassment, the TTC's Respect and Dignity Policy, Accommodation in the Workplace Policy, Workplace Violence Policy, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (“AODA”) and other related legislation and corporate policies
- Developing and delivering various education and/or training programs to advance and support a harassment, discrimination and violence-free service and work environment
- Developing and delivering training on TTC and HRID processes and policies to all new HRCs
- Continually reviewing internal and external training options for HRCs and ensuring all HRCs are receiving required training
- Maintaining training plan and budget for Human Rights Office (HRO)
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders and community groups with respect to issues regarding human rights, workplace violence, workplace harassment, accommodation and/or accessibility
- Planning, supervising and directing the work of the TTC Human Rights Consultants in the department, and overseeing their investigations and resolutions of complaints regarding alleged contraventions and/or violations of the Code, OHSA as it relates to workplace violence and workplace harassment, the TTC's Respect and Dignity Policy, Accommodation in the Workplace Policy, Workplace Violence Policy, AODA and other related legislation and corporate policies
- Advising on all matters proceeding before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO), liaising with TTC Legal Department on litigation strategies, and providing approval for settlements, as required
- Maintains current knowledge of case law and legislation related to human rights and workplace investigations, and ensures HRO processes and HRC knowledge is continually informed by industry best practices
- Promotes a respectful work and service environment that supports diversity, inclusion, and is free from harassment and discrimination. Helps to build an inclusive and accessible work and service environment for all employees and customers. Ensures the needs of employees and customers are accommodated in accordance with TTC’s commitments and obligations under the Code and Related Orders, the AODA, and TTC’s policies.

**Skills**:

- Provide specialized consultation- **Education and Experience**:

- Completion of a post-secondary education in a related field (e.g. Diversity and Human Rights, Law, Labour Relations, Public Policy and Administration, Social Work, Social Studies, etc.), combined with directly related work experience.
- Completion of a Bachelor of Law (LL.B), or Juris Doctor (JD) is an asset.

**Additional Requirements**:

- Thorough knowledge of the Code, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario’s procedures, OHSA, the AODA and other relevant legislation combined with a strong knowledge of equity principles and jurisprudence related to human rights, diversity and inclusion principles
- Knowledge, involvement and familiarity with the history of and barriers faced by racialized, Indigenous and Black communities due to racism and anti-Black racism, issues of equity, and systemic change
- Knowledge of, and ability to interpret various TTC policies including the Workplace Violence Policy, the Respect and Dignity Policy, Accommodation in the Workplace, the Code of Conduct Policy, Diversity and Inclusion Policy, as well as Collectiv
