**Job Summary**

This role directly reports to the CFO. The Controller is responsible for managing the month end close process ensuring all monthly/ quarterly /annual accounting activities including journal entries, reports and analyses are completed accurately and on time in accordance with the financial reporting timelines. Additional responsibilities include managing and providing guidance to the shared Accountant’s role and responsibilities, overseeing the inventory valuation process, providing leadership to the plant operations ensuring physical inventory counts are properly completed, preparing general ledger account reconciliations and analyses, completing daily cash reports, and banking functions and ensuring year-end audit requirements are met along with other responsibilities as required. This is a 6-month contract position with possibility of extension.

**Responsibilities of the role**
- Manage the month end close process ensuring all monthly/ quarterly /annual journal entries, reports and analyses are accurate and completed on a timely basis.
- Manage and provide support to the shared Accountant’s role ensuring responsibilities are performed accurately and timely.
- Responsible for the monthly inventory valuation process of Finished Goods, Components and Raw Materials for the plant operations and providing leadership to plant stakeholders ensuring accurate physical inventory counts.
- Ensure proper accrual accounting for payroll, vacation, and other required transactions.
- Responsible for the general ledger account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts.
- Development of process walkthroughs / narratives of existing month-end and day-to-day accounting functions
- Responsible for overseeing the year-end audit requirements ensuring accurate information is provided to meet external audit timelines.
- Analyze revenue, cost of sales, expenses and capital expenditures accounts and perform variance analysis on accounts following up with stakeholders for explanations.
- Ensure accounts receivable and account payable transactions are accurately processed.
- Responsible for the preparation of the daily cash and banking reports.
- Submitting HST tax refund to Corporate
- Set up Project Job Tracker and upload assets into Fixed Asset module
- Maintain Capital and Operating Leases and ensure records are current and appropriate payments are met
- Assist with training of new team members.
- Development KPIs for the plant
- Roll out and implementation of other continuous improvement initiatives for plant finance as assigned by CFO
- Development and implementation of fixed asset sub-ledger in JustFoods along with associated processes and controls
- Reconciliation of intercompany balances to sister divisions
- Ad-Hoc Reporting and Analysis as assigned by the CFO

**Education and core competencies requirement**
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA Designation (CMA, CGA, or CA legacy)
- 10+ years’ experience in Accounting and Financial Reporting and Analysis
- 3+ experience in the food industry is an asset
- ERP experience - Dynamics NAV / Just Foods, PDP
- Solid knowledge of accounting functions
- Strong leadership skills required with ability to coach and mentor abilities
- Detail oriented and organized
- Highest standards of accuracy and precision
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with high credibility at all levels of the organization
- Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
- Must demonstrate flexibility, strong commitment to meeting deadlines, and solid decision-making and judgement skills
- Ability to think creatively and great problem-solving skills
- Self-motivator with ability to work independently

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months

**Salary**: $79,247.36-$135,048.14 per year
