**JOB OVERVIEW**

The primary mandate of the Cancer Prevention program manager is to steer the development of programs for which they are responsible and to support a team of professionals.

The job holder’s role is to guide a team of experts to ensure the achievement of program objectives and their improvement. Their primary objective is to sustain the deployment of early detection programs in order to increase their reach and to support a targeted impact on populations with a lower participation rate through various intervention tactics.

Depending on the implementation of upcoming cancer prevention strategy, they may be required to manage prevention programs related to tobacco, vaping or other cancer risk factors.

The job holder will work closely with the Director, Cancer Prevention and the team of program managers to ensure consistency, continuity and complementarity between programs. They will encourage collaborative practices within the broader team, oversee processes related to projects under their responsibility (from project development to its conclusion or reach, including implementation and evaluation), and actively take part in effectively managing the department.

This role requires leadership, rigor, a sense of fun and collaboration.

**WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING**:
**Support the improvement of existing programs and support the development of new initiatives based on the priorities of the CCS’s Integrated Cancer Prevention Strategy.**
- Develop and embody the team's vision in relation to certain key themes of the department.
- Deploy action plans and provide a short
- and long-term logical framework for the programs and themes under your responsibility.
- Carry out annual program planning within the organization.
- Monitor ministerial strategic plans and ensure that our projects are consistent with such.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with our funders and key partners.
- Ensure the overall coherence of your team's projects, in keeping with the CCS's Integrated Cancer Prevention Strategy.
- Participate in cross-functional working groups to foster progress and innovation within the department.

**Implement programs and achieve the results established with the team of experts.**
- Oversee program management.
- Establish and review results.
- Promote and support team collaboration within the organization.
- Coach and support team members at all stages of managing their projects or in their specialist roles.
- Act as a project management consultant for your team members.
- Support your team members in their approach to production partners, suppliers and donors.
- Establish working conditions that foster the success of projects and the happiness of the professionals working to carry them out.
- In conjunction with project managers, recommend necessary improvements or modifications to the director, where applicable.

**Supervise the operationalization of programs and provide financial and administrative monitoring.**
- Provide rigorous and regular financial monitoring of all projects in your portfolio.
- Write funding requests to various donors.
- Support specialists in writing reports for donors.
- Support the creation of all project-related administrative or public documents.
- Foster a work environment that highlights the talents and strengths of each team member.
- Ensure hiring practices are inclusive.
- Encourage opportunities for growth and development for all team members.
- Establish clear lines of communication, in particular with the director, in regards to the status of projects, their challenges and their successes.
- Liaise with internal CCS teams working towards the success of our projects (e.g., prevention colleagues elsewhere in Canada, Communications, I Quit Now helpline, etc.).

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Post-secondary degree and 5 to 10 years of relevant experience.
- Bilingual in English and French is required.
- Experience in personnel management required.
