**EL SISTEMA AEOLIAN**

The Aeolian is a world-class arts presentation facility. It also has an Arts Education Campus with a heavy focus on music education. Its program “El Sistema Aeolian” is part of a Global Social Justice Movement offering a free, inclusive, intensive after-school music program. The Aeolian is recruiting passionate advocates for its mission and vision.

El Sistema Aeolian is a program run by The Aeolian Hall, a centre for research and development of arts programs with focus on social justice, social inclusion, and community development.

El Sistema Aeolian provides free access to an intensive, quality music education program to London children and youth. The goals of the program are to remove barriers to participation while offering orchestral, choral, and instrumental experiences to youth, developing skills and helping them achieve their full potential. It is inspired by the El Sistema social development movement founded in Venezuela in 1975 that has been adopted by and awarded in many other countries around the world.

**THE ROLE**

This is an opportunity for educators who share a vision of social inclusion and have a commitment to being part of a social justice movement that believes in empowering youth through the experience of ensemble music-making. This position is suited for energetic individuals that thrive in fast-paced environments and have a passion for giving every child the best possible education opportunity and who can engage and motivate children throughout the day-to-day lessons and rehearsals. The role has opportunities for leadership, administration and teaching.

This position will assist the Executive & Artistic Director and General Manager with day-to-day coordination and long-term development of the El Sistema Aeolian program while reporting directly to the Executive & Artistic Director. Opportunities for part-time or full-time employment will be considered.

This management level role is approximately 40 hours per week (at least 10:00 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily). The role requires flexibility given the variability of classes and the need to accommodate occasional morning and evening meetings, functions and team events as well as late evening and weekend performances. As such, this role is suitable for individuals who are able to accommodate regular evening work related responsibilities as well as occasional weekend

**ROLE DESCRIPTION - ADMINISTRATION**
- Program marketing, supporting the design and development of digital and print materials such as the program website, Annual Report, brochures, yearbooks, regular newsletters, etc.
- Coordinate and support the operations of program subcommittees.
- Coordinate and support volunteer recruitment and volunteer operations as they relate to El Sistema in collaboration with the Box Office Administrator.
- Supervise the instructor/teaching team as well as participate in their recruitment and hiring, as required. Assist the Artistic Director with teacher training
- Supervise and participate in facility management, the Safety Committee, fire planning and security initiatives.
- Work with the Artistic Director on short term and long-term program development and growth, assessment of program outcomes and deliverables and curriculum development
- Take the lead in Concert Preparations.
- Coordinate El Sistema schedule for classes.
- Coordinate and participate in new program participant interviews and support the strategic direction of capacity and program intake.
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive/Artistic Director and General Manager

**ROLE DESCRIPTION - INSTRUCTION**
- Maintain teaching and pedagogical skills by participating in regular program instructions: group, sectional, pull-out, individual lessons, as scheduled. Classroom and studio management skills are required.
- Conducting sectional rehearsals, working with intermediate level children Grade One to Grade Twelve weekly during the school year.
