**About Us**:
The Outreach team supports the Faculty of Engineering in its goal to ensure that Western’s profile in the community is strong and positive and to facilitate partnerships with the external community. The Outreach team provides opportunities for young people, parents, teachers/caregivers and the community to learn about Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) through workshops, open houses, camp programs and other initiatives and activities. These programs are targeted in local and priority catchment areas with the purpose of raising the awareness of engineering and of effectively transitioning students from outreach to the recruitment stream. Effective elementary and high school outreach is critical to Western Engineering’s goal of recruiting the ‘Best and the Brightest’ students to our undergraduate program.

**Responsibilities**:
The Outreach Program Coordinator will collaborate to provide support for the development, expansion and implementation of programs and events focused on increasing awareness and knowledge of engineering to underrepresented youth in STEM, including (but not limited to) Black, Indigenous, People of Colour (BIPOC), Women, LGBTQ2+, and newcomers to Canada. The role will ensure that the necessary support, information, documentation and resources are available for the successful implementation of events, workshops and program initiatives related to these populations and work with community partners to leverage their reach to further the goals and impact of these programs
- Collaborates with Outreach staff to provide support for the development, expansion and implementation/delivery of programs and events, focused on increasing awareness and knowledge of engineering to underrepresented youth K-12 in STEM (including BIPOC, Women, LGBTQ2+ and newcomers to Canada)
- Actively participates in the implementation/delivery of K to 12 programming on a regular basis
- Participates in the design and development of elementary school, high school and community based programming with the Manager of Engineering Outreach and coordinates administrative and logístical functions of the program
- Delivers and evaluates programming within the partner school boards (e.g., London-Middlesex, Sarnia, Lambton Kent and Chatham) as well as in community settings, providing support for educators throughout the program
- Works with community partners, including teachers and members of community groups or other organizations, to leverage current programs for expansion and/or increased programming to underrepresented youth
- Supports current teacher training program by reaching out to schools with high numbers of underrepresented students and developing and/or delivering additional programming to meet the needs of these communities
- Builds out programs in partnership with existing and new community partners
- Assists with existing events, workshops and programs for a general audience, and replicates these events for other underrepresented populations (events range from 2-hour workshops, to potentially multi-day events with 100-10,000 people in attendance)
- Works with event representatives, and internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful coordination, implementation and delivery of large and special events, including FIRST Robotics, in collaboration with the Manager, Outreach
- Assists with delivering existing outreach programming for priority audiences including those underrepresented in STEM
- Works with undergraduate student groups to provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for underrepresented students
- Acts as a resource for the student staff coordinators, summer camp staff and program instructors by supporting programming throughout the year, including assisting with program planning, scheduling and training, registrations and inquiries
- Provides a consistent point of contact for information, and acts as a resource to staff participating in or coordinating events, regarding policies, procedures and processes
- Maintains and builds new partnerships with community members and local school boards
- Manages a database related to student and teacher participation, assesses feedback, and prepares related reports, metrics and analytics as required
