**Description**:

- Reporting to the Learning Commons Coordinator, the Librarian is responsible for the ongoing development and evaluation of activities promoting information literacy including the library instruction workshops. He or she also guides and supports the academic sector in matters related to copyright. In collaboration with the other Librarians, he or she continually assesses and evaluates the library’s resources and service offerings.
- More specifically, but not limited to, the Librarian - Information Services:
- On matters related to information literacy, collaborates with peers and faculty to:

- Design, integrate, and evaluate information literacy standards into the curriculum that utilize both traditional and contemporary library practices, including emerging technologies, to support student learning;
- Develop, promote, and assess varying forms of information and media literacy instruction workshops;
- Create outreach initiatives that cultivate students’ critical thinking and evaluative skills.- On matters related to copyright:

- Liaises with the Co-op bookstore;
- Provides information about Canadian and International copyright laws to the college community;
- Offers workshops and meets with faculty and staff to demonstrate services and offer guidance regarding copyright compliance;
- Offers recommendations and support to faculty who require assistance in preparing the bibliographies for their courses;
- Creates resources and makes them available to departments, faculty, and other parties within the academic sector.- Assesses needs, designs, develops, promotes, and evaluates tools to help students carry out research, and become more familiar with academic libraries;
- Follows trends in information literacy pedagogy, learning theory, and educational technology, and design;
- Makes recommendations and ensures that policies, procedures, and resources related to information literacy and copyright are up to date;
- Participates in Library-wide responsibilities:

- Offers library service-related assistance of the technical, research, or bibliographic nature to students, teachers, and staff;
- Plans and delivers library tours and instruction workshops tailored around information literacy and the curriculum requirements of courses;
- Participates in collection development and de-selection of materials in collaboration with assigned departments and programs;
- Participates in the animation of library activities and events.- In collaboration with the other Librarians:

- Participates in the promotion of the library’s services and resources to the community, develops outreach opportunities, and ensures an active online presence through social media platforms;
- Observes, assesses, and makes recommendations to the Learning Commons Coordinator regarding improvements to spaces, changes to equipment and to procedures, guidelines, and regulations.- Acts as a liaison to assigned departments and stays informed of their information needs while keeping them informed of services and resources made available to faculty, and students;
- Actively participates in internal academic committees as well as pertinent external organizations in order to stay abreast of emerging trends in the information and library science field;
- Prepares write-ups and reports, often empirical in nature, at the request of the Learning Commons Coordinator;
- Helps students at the reference desk and info desk, and assists library staff at the circulation desk when needed;
- Monitors that the regulations of the library spaces are respected by patrons;
- Contributes to Learning Commons team-wide mandates and special projects.
