The Quality and Continuous Improvement Manager will promote an environment focused on continuously improving the processes and products while assuring compliance of our systems. This newly defined role will implement new methods to improve product quality manufacture and further reinforce our quality systems.
The position will lead quality and continuous improvement efforts for the Valmet Montreal site including; identifying opportunities to implement standardized processes (Std. work, PDCA, A3) by working directly with the management team and manufacturing team members. The position is responsible for maintenance and improvement of the Valmet Quality Management System. This includes management of document control system, internal / external quality audits (ISO 9001) as well as any quality performance metrics.
This is a critical role that is a member of the Local Management Team and must be able to engage at all levels within the facilities. This individual must demonstrate the ability to establish clear expectations and standards, while having the ability to communicate clearly and consistently throughout the facility. This position must have a keen ability to understand our customer requirement and over time build relationships to effectively deliver results. This position will have direct customer contact, and the ability to understand non-conformances and develop and communicate corrective-actions is vital to the success of the role.
Expectations
- Four (4) years’ experience in Quality, Manufacturing, or Engineering in a manufacturing environment. History of working in metal machining processing is preferred.
- Education - Bachelor’s Degree in Paper Science, Engineering or equivalent experience may be substituted for experience and vice versa.
- Certifications in ASQ Quality Management-Engineering-Auditing and / or Six Sigma is a plus. Formal training and hands-on experience with Lean and associated duties is desired.
- Computer literacy - Advanced capabilities with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint required.
- Knowledgeable with statistical methods and analysis.
- Flexibility to work additional hours if required.
- Must possess excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- Comfortable managing above and below.
