The Opportunity.
Smart & Biggar is currently looking for a Translation Manager to join our Operations team.

As the Translation Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing all translation activities for both Smart & Biggar and IPH Group.

Responsibilities.
- Act as the primary point of contact for translation needs within the firm
- Oversee and manage translation projects from initiation to completion for diverse content types
- Collaborate with the IPH corporate communications team on translation projects
- Assess translation needs from different departments and/or practice groups and determine the most effective approach
- Conduct translations where necessary or work with our external translation partners
- Oversee the translation budget, negotiating rates, and ensuring cost-effectiveness
- Follow quality control processes to maintain the accuracy and consistency of translated materials, as well as compliance with Quebec's language laws
- Conduct revisions where necessary or collaborate with internal or external translation partners to align translations with firm’s standards
- Develop and maintain a network of external translation partners, assessing and expanding the network as needed
- Develop and maintain robust term banks for internal use

Qualifications, competencies and experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field
- 7-10+ years of experience in translating within a professional services or legal environment
- Proven track record of successfully managing translation projects
- Proficiency in French and English, with a strong command of legal terminology
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work
- Familiarity with translation technologies and tools
- Excellent organizational and project management skills to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Optional: Member of the OTTIAQ (Ordre des translators, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec)
