**Position Summary**

**This is a remote position in Canada, with occasional onsite presence at one of our major hubs.**

Thales is looking for a **Category Manager **(CM) who will be in charge of one or several procurement categories and/or sub-categories for the entire region in which they operate. This position reports to the Categories Team leader and is specifically for Segment F, General Expenses with experience in category C10, Travel, Events, Contingent Labor & HR Services.

**Key Areas of Responsibility**

The Category Manager is in charge of one or several procurement categories for the entire region in which they operate. In this position, you will work in close relation with the Product / Project Procurement organizations and the relevant stakeholders. You will have regular feedback with them, and your main tasks are as follows:

- Permanently develop and enrich the regional strategy for the C10, Travel, Events, Contingent Labor & HR Services category short, mid and long term, based on entities' needs.
- Ensure a perfect knowledge and buy-in of the category strategy from engineering team, the Product / Project Procurement organization or the relevant stakeholders, and by entities / regions.
- Ensure regional needs are met and enforce standardization for procurement categories in close cooperation with B&P and Products Procurement organization if relevant.
- Competitiveness
- Monitor the market for their category, including key actors and suppliers, economic evolutions, innovations, technology, in order to propose the most up-to-date solutions to businesses.
- Provide business with insights as to how products / projects could be more competitive, based on their monitoring.
- Prepare Make or Buy decision, in collaboration with project / product procurement manager or relevant stakeholders.
- Performance Management vis-a-vis entities / regions
- Ensure the level of performance expected by the entities / regions (monitor performance, communicate on best practices, define SLA...)
- Propose and implement corrective actions in the case of a shortfall in performance.
- Supplier Management
- Organize competitions, assess and select best suppliers for the category, in close collaboration with entities / regions and with regular feedback loops.
- Negotiate contracts and own the relationship with the suppliers for the category.
- Is responsible for the compliance of the purchase contracts with applicable laws, the Thales regulations and the customers’ requirements.
- Monitor and control performance of category's suppliers, based on data provided by Supplier Performance Managers
- Assess and manage suppliers' risks.
- Identify the suppliers who have to be developed and set up the improvement plan with the Supplier Performance Manager.
- Ensure contract management is properly managed.
- Lead P2 Projects (Greater than $300k spend and Low Risk).
- Lead P3 Projects (Greater than $300k spend and Medium to High Risk).

**Minimum Requirements**
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 10 years of Procurement/Purchasing experience.
- Have a good knowledge of the regional market for the Building Services (C13) and Supply Chain Services (C15) category.
- Manage and understand their supplier panel very well.
- Knowledge of value analysis methods.
- Understand the customer’s needs and program issues.
- Know how to evaluate financial performance.
- Know how to evaluate risks and propose a mitigation plan.
- Know how to lead a performance plan.
- Have knowledge of commercial law, insurance and export control
- Contain a macro-level view of the operations and business needs.
- Ability to Lead Complex and High Spend Negotiations.
- Proven experience negotiating T&Cs.
- Multi-year track record of delivering cost reduction.
- Experience working with Cost Lever methodology.
- Take ownership and able to drive project to completion in a timely manner.
