Position Information
**Position Title**
- Library Services Platform Coordinator**Position Summary**
- The Library Services Platform (LSP) Coordinator leads and manages the planning, design, implementation, and ongoing assessment of the LSP. In collaboration with the Library Coordinator, they are responsible for the planning and execution of the interlibrary loan function and service. This role works with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to ensure the LSP contributes to the strategic and operational objectives outlined for this platform. They play a critical role in ensuring long-term usability of the platform**Position Responsibilities**
- LSP Management- Leads all aspects of the ongoing support, maintenance, and training around the LSP by providing Platform expertise
- Working with Library stakeholders, Is responsible for ongoing design and planning; software update implementation; and platform assessment
- Identifies issues and solutions while working collaboratively with the vendor on ongoing updates and maintenance
- Acts as liaison with library committees and task groups collaborating with faculty and staff to ensure LSP is meeting the needs of users
- Acts as a liaison to external consortia as required
- Leads collaborations with other internal departments to support LSP, such as the Registrar’s Office and IT
- Communicates changes to the estimated cost of software improvements or add-ons to Associate Dean and Operations Manager for budget approval
- Responsible for creating both internal and student/staff/faculty facing resources to support the use of the LSP
- Collection and documents feedback around performance enhancement to the vendor
- Consults with Library Coordinator and Librarian team to determine best timing for anticipated downtime, and communicates downtime to stakeholders as appropriate
- Participates in discussions and builds community with other AB libraries using same LSP
**Training Coordination**
- Coordinates all areas of training related to the onboarding staff onto the Library Services Platform (LSP). Develops and/or customizes training modules for RDP staff and user groups related to new LSP
- Coordinates with vendor regarding on-site training needs and liaises about concerns with vendor-provided training resources
- Develops made for RDP training, as required
- Supports the creation of videos related to LSP functionality, as required
**Library Service Desk Support**
- Provides support to the library service desk, including issuing accounts, navigating software, troubleshooting technology
- Assists students and patrons by answering questions and directing enquiries as needed
- Escalates complex technology and system wide issues to ITS and notifying Library Coordinator
- Demonstrates how to use and navigate the Integrated Library System (ILS), technology and electronic resources
- Applies knowledge of circulation services, to perform all functions related to the load and return of Library materials, creation of community memberships, and transfers more complex questions to the appropriate staff member
- Orients patrons to the library’s online presence, services and spaces located within the library, and providing services that respond to the needs of patrons with disabilities (e.g. assist at the lower desk, use assistive technology etc.)
- Applies knowledge of basic research process at an academic level, including how to search for information using online and print resources, as well
**Interlibrary Loan Liaison**
- Coordinates Interlibrary loan (ILL) service at RDP Library in consultation with Library Coordinator
- Trains Library staff to support various ILL functions
- Works with other Library Consortia (TAL, NEOS, etc) as appropriate to provide the best possible service to RDP Students, Faculty, and Staff
- Determines and implements how other Libraries will reach out to RDP regarding ILLs
- Suggests alternate ways of managing ILL load to Librarians, Library Coordinator, and Associate Dean, Student Success
**Required Qualifications**
- Two (2) years of post-secondary training, completion of a community college certificate including trades apprenticeships or equivalent in Business Administration, Project Management, or Library Technician.
- Over Three years up to 5 Years
- Experience working in a library is required; preference for those with post-secondary library experience.
- Ability to champion and lead change; a proactive, collaborative, results-oriented style
- Ability to work in a dynamic, ever-changing, fast-paced environment with multiple demands, competing priorities and numerous deadlines
- Ability to use and interpret complex data to accurately advise and inform decision makers
- Strong leadership and teambuilding skills
