**Accounting Assistant (Bookkeeper)**
**Full time permanent position (21 hours per week)**
**Starting at: 44,199.00 pro-rated**
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, the Accounting Assistant will be a member of the Finance team and will be accountable of the Board of Directors.
**The incumbent must demonstrate competencies in the following areas;**
**Central Responsibilities**:
**Accounts Receivable**
- Maintain record of Accounts Receivable in Simply Accounting and database CIMS (Client Information Management System).
- Produce and verify monthly statements
- Follow up on outstanding invoices for payments
- Maintain and update A/R data
- Produce tax receipts for clients
- Process payments from clients (cheques, cash, credit cards, online payments)
- Manage and respond to clients inquiries regarding their invoices
- Maintain day to day accounting operations
- Balance all bank reconciliations to Centre’s General Ledger, provide correcting entries as necessary for processing
- Ensure proper control procedures are followed surrounding canceled cheques
- Operate Petty Cash when required
- Make bank deposits when required
- Prepare and process various event transactions (fundraising events, Direct Mail, fee for services)
**Issue charitable donations receipts for donors**
- Issue charitable donation receipts for donors on a regular basis
- Keep register of all issued receipts
**Qualifications**:
**Education**:
- Accounting diploma/certificate preferred
- A combination of education & experience be considered as equivalency.
**Experience**:
- 1 year of experience in accounting and bookkeeping
- Knowledge of Simply Accounting
- Proficiency in use of Excel, MS Word, Outlook
- Experience in customer service
- Knowledge of a client information system
- Knowledge in payroll and employee database preferably in a non -profit setting
**Language Requirements**:
- **Bilingual Imperative** (English & French)
- Writing skills in English and French
**Job Type**: Part-time
**Salary**: From $24.29 per hour
Expected hours: 21 per week
