The Niagara District Airport is located in the heart of the Niagara Region, situated between Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake, and St Catharines, providing a link to world-renowned theatres, festivals, wineries, restaurants, golf courses, and casinos. We have a 5,000 foot runway, NAV Canada on-site, in addition to Customs clearance capacity, Avgas and jet refueling available. We are host to a wide variety of aviation activities including flight training, general aviation, tourism, private charter, military, and rotary wing operations.
**Administrative Assistant**
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for supporting administrative activities of the airport, and general executive support of the Niagara District Airport Commission (NDAC). The position is a full-time position, inclusive of a 40-hour work week, commencing immediately. It includes a full benefits package and inclusion in the OMERS pension plan, with an annual salary range from $47,000 to $50,000.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- General administrative support for all airport staff and operations;
- Organize and attend special meetings, annual general meetings, and NDAC meetings;
- Collect and sort invoices and cheques, mail cheques to both other businesses and employees;
- Assist CEO in preparing the annual operating and capital budgets and monitor expenditures;
- Prepare and distribute meeting agendas, draft minutes, reports, and correspondence as required for all NDAC meetings.
- Maintain and amend by-laws and policies as directed;
- Maintain and update content of Airport’s website and various social media platforms; assist and respond to client feedback;
- Support and plan communications activities, including community outreach, presentations, and media releases;
- Support and coordination for human resource activities for airport staff;
- Creating, updating and maintaining human resource policies and procedures, including employee handbooks, documentation, and federal health and safety regulations;
- Procurement and support of advertisers and advertising revenue related to the airport terminal building, signage and social media channels;
- Coordinate and maintain all document retention for the Commission;
- Carry out other tasks, special projects or assignments as requested by the Airport CEO.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ontario Grade 12 Secondary School Diploma or equivalent; College diploma an asset;
- Minimum two years experience in administrative support;
- Demonstrated experience with social media platforms, and intermediate proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, Word, Powerpoint);
- Good customer service skills, combined with strong oral and written communications abilities;
- Initiative and decision-making skills to work effectively for long periods without close supervision;
- Ability to work limited evenings as required to provide support for Committee and Commission meetings;
