**About Us**:
To recruit, assess admission eligibility, admit, and confirm the most qualified students to Western’s first entry programs in the most effective, efficient and timely manner.

The Western English Language Centre (WELC) provides programs for over 100 enrolled international students a year to prepare them for success in undergraduate studies at Western. Through both language and socio-cultural instruction, WELC ensures a superior learning experience, from recruitment to graduation, for international students within a westernized education system. Recruiting from a variety of international markets, WELC is a key contributor to Western’s internationalization initiatives.

**Qualifications**

**Education**:
Minimum Required: Minimum 2 year College Diploma
- Preferred: University Degree (preferably from Western University)**Experience**:
Minimum Required: 2 years related experience providing customer service, preferably in an academic environment
- Preferred: Experience with PeopleSoft Higher Education System, document imaging and Salesforce CRM/CM. Previous experience in admissions or higher education**Skills, Abilities & Expertise**:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to deal with upset clients, sensitive and confidential situations in a professional and courteous manner- Ability to write clear, concise procedural documentation
- Knowledge of the domestic and international education system, post-secondary system and university environment
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to balance competing priorities
- Competency to maintain confidentiality and treat sensitive information with discretion
- Ability to establish rapport with people from diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated ability to understand and communicate complex ideas orally or verbally, and understand customer needs and expectations while providing excellent customer service
- Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation
- Demonstrated initiative for consultative review and evaluation of work processes along with associated ability to implement changes for ongoing improvements to services within the area
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple conflicting priorities in a fast paced environment with frequent interruptions

Ability to perform in an open office with demonstrated ability to deal with frequent distractions and interruptions while processing a high volume of data and inquiries- Ability to process large amounts of information and input data into databases with a high degree of speed and accuracy, and follow formal business practices with high attention to detail
- Intermediate proficiency required in Microsoft Office with the ability to learn quickly and adapt to new policies, procedures and technology in a rapidly changing environment
- Strong record of teamwork with the motivation and ability to work independently with little supervision
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
- Familiarity with the university environment including first entry programs and admission policies would be an asset
