HR lead position - Alberta Obesity Centre

The Alberta Obesity Centre is a very diverse multidisciplinary clinic that focuses on the management of obesity within our province as well as reducing the stigma of weight bias. You will have the opportunity to work with professionals with a nursing background and physicians from specialty such as family medicine, general surgery, emergency medicine, sports medicine and other subspecialties.

- Must possess a high-level of honesty, integrity, and ethics
- The ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Demonstrated ability to deal with people of varying backgrounds with sensitivity tact and confidence.
- Experience in healthcare management to a degree.
- The ability to foster a collaborative and healthy work environment
- A high-level of competency with technology including web-based software.
- Great communication skills, verbal and written.
- Knowledge of relevant employment legislations such as the Alberta Labour Code, Employment Standards Act and Human Rights.
- Strong organizational skills including ability to handle multiple tasks, scheduling, meet deadlines, maintain appropriate documentation and produce accurate communications to management.
- Skill set in employee acquisition, labour and employee relations, and reviewing employee performance
- The ability to work independently with limited supervision

**Key Responsibilities at AOC**:

- Management of human resource, managing payroll and benefits (e.g payworks), employee performance evaluations and patient relationships.
- Development of and human resources policies, programs, and standards practices for employees
- Improvement and development of HR policies, initiatives and guidelines in line with current legislation and recognized industry best practices.
- Implement strategies on training, compensation and work flows for current and future employee
- Assist communication among employees and management by providing guidance and consultation regarding problem solving, dispute resolution, regulatory compliance and strive to resolve internal conflict informally through appropriate conflict management techniques
- Support existing employee retention strategies
- Escalate matters as necessary to upper management and our legal team.
- Promotion of a positive corporate culture
- Assists managers in driving efficiency within the clinic
- Regularly assess patient experiences and develop strategic plans on improving noted deficiencies
- Identify and address trends that affect morale, effectiveness, turnover, absenteeism, productivity and staff satisfaction.
- Establish resources to support a recruitment strategy,
- Consult with management on processes and ensure adherence to recruitment process.
- Ensuring job descriptions are created and maintained.

Qualifications:

- Bachelors Degree in Human resources, Business, or related area.
- 5+ years of generalist HR experience, with at least 3+ years as a manager
- Experience managing employee grievances, conducting workplace investigations, disciplinary and misconduct hearings and dismissals
- Experience managing employee files, employment offers, contracts, and work permits
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Prior knowledge with payroll and performance management software required - (E.g Payworks, easyclocking)
- CHRP designation or obtaining certification is a significant asset


Starting Salary: From $44 per hour

In-person hire.

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday (8:30-4:30pm)
