McMillan has an exciting opportunity as a **Marketing and Business Development (MBD) Specialist **in our **Montréal **office. Reporting to the Manager, Client and Business Development, you will join a growing and dynamic group working with practice groups and team members to develop and advance a broad range of business development objectives through a variety of marketing activities. The MBD Specialist will demonstrate a client-focused approach with excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to achieve short-term results while supporting longer-term strategies. This role offers a hybrid workweek.

**What You’ll Do**

**Events, Sponsorships, Advertising and Awards**

In collaboration with the Hospitality department, you will lead the creation and execution of client events, working closely with lead lawyers to update mailing lists, develop invitations, and manage responses, feedback, and reporting through marketing automation and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems. You will also track expenses, monitor budgets, and report on event leads and outcomes. Additionally, you will support the development of promotional content for distribution and external publication, including digital and social media, trade magazines, sponsorships/awards, recruitment initiatives, and community involvement projects. Your role will involve identifying and assessing client event, advertising, and strategic sponsorship opportunities, as well as collaborating with MBD Event Management team members to support best practice protocols. You will also play a key role in coordinating and participating in award nomination and submission processes, and ensuring compliance with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) related to data collection and management.

**Regional Support**:
You will identify opportunities to expand McMillan's profile in the Montréal and Ottawa markets through various channels, including speaking engagements, media appearances, and social media. In this role, you will also collaborate with other bilingual members of the Marketing and Business Development (MBD) team on the trans-creation and review of French marketing content. Additionally, you will provide local market marketing and business development support to law professionals, ensuring that our efforts are tailored to the unique needs of these regions.

**National and Practice Groups Support**

You will provide support for practice group business plans, assisting with related activities, budget management, and reporting. Additionally, you will contribute to the delivery of key client program initiatives and support the strategic plan's core areas and industry focus. Utilizing CRM systems, you will advance and support business development and relationship-building efforts, while leveraging digital media to enhance brand awareness and thought leadership. Your role will also involve providing French language support for the delivery of bulletins and website updates.

**Administration**

In this role, you will coordinate the assessment and approval process for marketing and business development (BD) initiatives. You'll also assist with processing the department’s account payables and cheque requisitions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Additionally, you'll maintain essential filing and document management systems. Other duties will be assigned as needed to support the team.

**What You Bring**

You should be detail-oriented, capable of effectively meeting deadlines, and able to work well in a team setting while providing an exceptional level of client service. Proficiency in both official languages (French and English), along with excellent writing and presentation skills, is essential.

The role requires superior technical skills, particularly in Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, with knowledge of CRMs considered an asset. A basic understanding of web CMS systems, such as WordPress, is also desirable.
