Parenting Facilitator

**Overview**:
The Parent Resource Centre is seeking a compassionate and skilled facilitator to lead Circle of Security® Parenting Groups (COS-P). The facilitator will create a safe and supportive environment for parents, caregivers and professionals to learn about building secure attachments with their children. This role requires expertise in attachment theory, group facilitation, and a commitment to supporting positive parenting practices.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Facilitate Circle of Security® Parenting Groups (COS-P) following the COS-P curriculum and principles.
- Create an inclusive, respectful, and supportive group environment where caregivers feel heard and valued.
- Demonstrates commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
- Ability to respond sensitively, professionally and with expertise to guide parents and professionals seeking supports.
- Demonstrates understanding of the diverse needs of vulnerable families facing multiple risks and barriers.
- Demonstrates ability to work in an environment which may be emotionally challenging.
- Actively manage group dynamics, ensuring a safe and confidential environment for participants to share and reflect.
- Use videos, discussion prompts, and exercises provided by the COS-P framework to guide sessions effectively.
- Observe and respond to the needs of participants, ensuring a trauma-informed approach.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to professional and ethical standards in all aspects of program delivery.
- Provide feedback to participants and encourage reflection on their parenting journey.
- Document attendance, feedback, surveys, and outcomes as required by organizational or funding guidelines.
**Qualifications**:
- Certification as a Circle of Security® Parenting Group (COS-P) Facilitator (mandatory).
- Background in social work, social service workers, counseling, psychology, early childhood education, or a related field.
- Valid registration with your applicable regulatory body a requirement
- Strong understanding of attachment theory, child development, and family dynamics.
- Experience facilitating groups, particularly with diverse populations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to create a supportive and non-judgmental environment.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed practices.
**Skills/Experience**:
- Five or more years of client facing support and group facilitation skills (Essential)
- Strong knowledge of child development, attachment and positive parenting strategies (Essential)
- Strong knowledge of community resources available in Ottawa an asset
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, with a proficiency in Word, Power Point, Excel and Outlook
- Strong writing and communication skills necessary
- Recent vulnerable sector police check required
- Experience working with families in diverse cultural and socioeconomic contexts.
- Knowledge of additional parenting programs or frameworks.
- English essential
- French and/or other language an asset.
**Work Environment and Schedule**:
- COS-P sessions are held virtually. Must have access to a computer, internet and a suitable private environment from which to work.
- Administration, meetings and additional training requirement may take place either virtually or in person at 300 Goulburn Crescent.
- Ability to work 5-10 hours a week as needed (ie. workshop delivery 2-hours weekly plus fluctuating administration and client check-ins as required.)
- Ability to work evenings to accommodate caregiver schedules.
- Please note that there may be opportunities for additional hours and responsibilities within the scope of our Family Resilience Program as operational needs arise.
**Benefits**:
- The salary for this position is offered within a range of $28-$32, based on qualifications, skills, and experience.
- Initial three-month contract January-March 2025 with possibility of renewal.
