The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Commander of Central Region is seeking a qualified individual to join our Central Region team. In this exciting, rewarding and challenging opportunity, you will provide financial and management services for the region, including advising regional management on financial planning/management; and overseeing financial controls, policies, guidelines and reporting as well as coordinating the regional administrative function, including purchasing, asset management and accommodation.

About Us:
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is one of North America's largest deployed police services with more than 5,800 uniformed officers, 2,400 civilian employees and 830 Auxiliary officers. We provide essential services that ensure the safety and security of the people of the Province of Ontario. The OPP is a division of the Ministry of the Solicitor General, the largest operational ministry in the province with a presence in every community across Ontario. We are the largest police service in Ontario and the second largest in Canada.

Central Region is responsible to provide policing services to a population of approximately 523,000 people; however, the population fluctuates and swells throughout the year as Central Region is a vacation destination for the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The overall population continues to grow in Central Region, especially in areas including, but not limited to, Orillia, Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Peterborough, and Northumberland. During the summer months, cottagers and summer seekers attend favourite destinations in Haliburton Highlands and Kawartha Lakes to the east, the Muskoka area in the north, and the largest freshwater beach in the world, Wasaga Beach, in the west.

**What can I expect to do in this role?**: To provide financial and administrative support services for the region, including advising regional management on financial planning/management; and overseeing financial controls, policies, guidelines and reporting.

To coordinate the regional administrative function, including purchasing, asset management and accommodation.

**How do I qualify?**:
**Mandatory**:

- Ability to pass an OPP background/ security investigation.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and auditing principles and practices to prepare, review and analyze standard and adhoc financial reports; and to develop and implement financial controls.
- Ability to assess compliance of records and interpret financial and administrative policies, procedures and processes.
- Ability to prepare budgets and forecasts, monitor in-year expenditures and budget variances; recommend options to achieve cost savings.
- Ability to identify, research and analyze regional expenditures, budget variances, and financial pressures, to meet funded levels within the region.
- Ability to assess situations and resolve problems when they arise.
- Oral communication and interpersonal skills to provide advice and technical guidance to management and regional staff and to negotiate arrangements for services with external suppliers and resolve issues concerning procurement.
