We support the resilience and recovery of people in distress including those affected by mental illness or suicide by providing crisis intervention; safe, long-term and affordable housing; peer support; suicide grief and family support; information and referral support; and providing opportunities to improve your wellness.

**Job Summary**

Reporting to the Manager, Community Engagement, the Engagement & Events Coordinator is an integral part of CMHA-Edmonton’s community engagement activities. This position supports planning and implementation of the agency’s signature events and is the lead and key point of contact for gaming activities and third-party community events.

**Job Duties and Responsibilities**

**Signature Events**
- Supporting the planning and implementation of signature fundraising events including:

- The annual Beautiful Minds fundraiser.
- The agency’s golf tournament.
- Lead planning and implementation of program events including:

- Life After Suicide Loss.
- An Evening to Remember
- With the Executive Assistant, plan and implement the agency’s Annual General Meeting.
- Work with the External Relations team and relevant program leads to engage and steward event sponsors.
- Engage event participants and other supporters and generate excitement.
- Support and where required serve as the key point of contact for vendors, contractors, and other partners to successfully implement events and - where appropriate - achieve fundraising targets.
- Engage, support, and supervise event volunteers.
- Provide logístical and administrative support to event planning committees and committee members.

**Third Party Events**
- Actively seek out third party fundraising and awareness opportunities and build relationships with prospective and current supporters.
- Support third party fundraisers and awareness events through providing advice and expertise.
- Represent the agency at community events.
- Engage and supervise volunteers, where appropriate, to support third party events.

**Gaming Activities**
- Serve as the primary staff contact person for AGLC, including:

- Coordinating planning for fundraising casinos.
- Filing licenses and reports for AGLC-approved raffles.
- Supporting bingos and other gaming fundraisers.

**Public Engagement**
- Support public engagement and awareness for events such as:

- CMHA Mental Health Week
- World Suicide Prevention Day
- Support public engagement year-round on mental health, suicide prevention, and mental illness awareness.

**Core Competencies and Responsibilities**
- Creates buy-in and excitement for events among staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders.
- Identifies strategic opportunities to increase fundraising and awareness.
- Works with, and where appropriate oversees, the work of vendors, consultants, and other contractors.
- Positive and collaborative working style that builds relationships.
- Takes steps to identify, mitigate, and address any potential risks - real or perceived - to the agency, its events, and other work.

**Qualifications/Experience**
- Post-secondary degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in events, community engagement, and/or fundraising, ideally with demonstrated success in:

- Planning and executing events
- Raising money through events
- Engaging people in fun, creative activities
- Building relationships and partnerships.
- Familiarity with AGLC rules around gaming and lotteries is an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License.
- Acceptable Police Information Check.
