**About Us**:
Western International's mission is to provide support services to the growing international population at Western (i.e., undergraduate and graduate international students, exchange students, post-doctoral fellows, visiting scholars/professors, permanent residents and refugee/refugee claimants, potential students, recent graduates, spouses, and dependents of all International Student Services clients) in order to facilitate their academic and professional success and well-being during their time at Western. In addition, the unit facilitates and promotes intercultural exchange, learning and skills development through programming and volunteer, experiential learning and leadership opportunities thus expanding the Western International client base to include domestic students, faculty and staff.

**Responsibilities**:
The Program Coordinator (Student Arrivals & Orientation) will support the day-to-day administrative and logístical functions and oversee the planning, coordination, implementation, and promotion of Western’s orientation program as a member of the International Student Services team, and will help connect incoming students with transition and arrival programming offered through Western International and campus partners. The role will act as a first point of contact to all incoming international students travelling to Canada, and will ensure that they have the necessary support, information, documentation and resources. The Program Coordinator will assist in the development of the international orientation structure in relation to new outcomes, connecting with colleagues to establish processes for early arrival, and will plan, organize, and implement expanded welcome programming, ensuring efficient coordination and management of events related to the program. The role will implement an assessment process to evaluate student learning and experience, and will develop a report on findings with related recommendations for future programming. The Program Coordinator be responsible for maintaining accurate records and information, ensuring regularly changing information is shared with appropriate campus partners, leaders, and other stakeholders as required. The role will also hire and provide supervision and guidance to the summer students and volunteers assisting with orientation and arrivals programming.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- Undergraduate Degree in a relevant discipline

**Experience**:

- 3 years’ experience providing administrative, logístical, and project support; large-scale program and event coordination; and facilitation in a higher education institution
- Experience with program analysis and evaluation
- Experience with international travel, overseas work, or study experience is preferred
- Experience with coordinating arrival and orientation in a post-secondary environment would be an asset

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Ability to plan and manage events of various sizes; familiarity with large scale events an asset
- Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with various campus and community partners
- Knowledge of Western University and its services preferred
- Ability to manage complex and time-sensitive cases as well as multiple projects
- Proven strong intercultural competencies with an ability to establish rapport with people form diverse backgrounds
- Thorough understanding of student identity and the complex needs of international students and their families
- Strong understanding cross-cultural transitions and of international student and immigrant/newcomers’ issues and adaptation/integration challenges
- Familiarity with best practices for assessing, developing and implementing new business processes and procedures
- Strong presentation and group facilitation skills with demonstrated ability to conduct workshops or training sessions
- Exceptional communication skills (including public speaking, writing, active listening) to work effectively and diplomatically with culturally and linguistically diverse populations
- Ability to understand customer needs and expectations and provide excellent customer service to directly and indirectly satisfy expectations
