**JOB SUMMARY**
The Shipping Manager is responsible for ensuring that all parts of an order are ready for delivery/pick-up. When an item/part is not ready to be delivered, the Manager will relay this to the Shop Foreman, and deliver the item/part once it is ready. Moreover, he/she will be responsible for creating and enforcing the delivery schedule, with the help of the Installation Coordinator, and maintaining communication with all drivers throughout the day. Furthermore, he/she will be required to schedule maintenance work on company vehicles as necessary.
**Responsibilities and Duties**
- Ensure that all parts and cabinets are ready for delivery, and/or pickup.
- Communicate with various departments when items are not ready for delivery.
- Communicate with the Service department on the status of jobs to assure all jobs are ready in full. If parts are missing, you must inform them ahead of time, so that the job can be rescheduled.
- Throughout the day, maintain and update the daily delivery order.
- Communicate with various departments to help ready all deficiencies for delivery. This may include preparing some of the deficiencies yourself.
- Consistently evaluating the shipping department processes and recommend changes when appropriate.
- Set operational procedures and standards, including overseeing the departmental safety procedures.
- Lead and participate in workplace inspections to ensure that equipment, materials, and production processes do not present a safety or health hazard to employees.
- Creating and Maintaining SOP’s[SA1]
- Understand the requirements and volume of daily deliveries to determine when a third-party mover is required.
- Maintaining a clean and well-organized department while keeping employees accountable for the same standards
- Responsible for interviewing and hiring all new staff in the Shipping department.
- Conduct performance reviews of supervised workers.
- Responsible for accurately maintaining employee timecards and submitting them to payroll bi-weekly.
- Resolve various problems and related complaints and implement corrective measures and process improvements.
- Conduct training of all delivery personnel i.e., safe driving, loading of freight, proper lifting, etc.
- Keep track of all missing items/tops from deliveries and sort out delivery times with customers and Service Department
- Continuously assure that your delivery personnel are responsible and working efficiently at all times.
- Review the daily trip inspection checklist, to ensure all items have been checked and dealt with accordingly.
- Establish and maintain a scheduled maintenance plan for all delivery vehicles.
- Develop a system to ensure all delivery personnel submit a BC Drivers Abstract and a copy of a valid BC Driver’s License each year from the date they were submitted.
- Conduct the hiring and dismissal of all delivery personnel.
**Qualifications and Skills**
- Highschool diploma or GED, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of cabinetry and/or shipping & receiving.
- Previous experience working in customer service.
- Experience using table and chop saws.
- Ability to lift 18 - 27kg (20 - 60lb).
- Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization.
