Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Industrial Occupational **Health and Safety Officer** evaluates and monitors workplace environments to ensure safety of employees in the workplace. To develop, promote, implement, and maintain safety programs with the goal to reduce to zero, injuries and accidents.

**Responsibilities**
- Observes all safety rules.
- Ensures that all employees are aware of the safe work procedures, enforce compliance to safety rules, is aware of potential hazards and takes preventive measures.
- Ensures compliance to company regulations and policies. Ensures the usage of corrective measures/coaching on violations.
- Maintain and enhance safety conditions of the site facilities to ensure they do not pose a threat or risk to employees, the workplace, clients, or the public.
- Perform safety inspections and promote our safe work practices with focus on the work environment.
- Investigate safety concerns and workplace accidents.
- Adhere to safety standards and regulations as set out applicable legislation.
- Manage and maintain employee safety within the industrial facilities and on the work site.
- Create and submit safety reports as needed.

**Qualifications and Requirements**
- College Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or similar disciplines *required
- Certifications related to safety procedures *required
- Certified JHSC member in the industrial sector *an asset
- 3-5 years’ experience in implementing and promoting safe work practices and policies within a similar environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Industrial Establishments

Regulations, and all applicable regulations
- Experience in working with JHSCs in a unionized environment
- Detail oriented and highly organized
- Experience in prioritizing and performing well under pressure in a fast paced and distracting environment
- Bilingualism (French and English) *required
