**Ivaco Rolling Mills** is looking for a **Billet Yard Supervisor** to join the logistics department

Reporting to the Billet Yard General Forman, as a **Billet Yard Supervisor**, you oversee the daily operation of the billet yard, scrap receiving and cutting beds to ensure work is performed safely and efficiently. You work with Rod Mill and Steel Plant management to give the best possible Billet Order line-ups to optimize productivity and to ensure efficient billet movement from cooling bed. You ensure manpower is available to achieve departmental goals on each shift and monitor the storage plan for inside and outside storage and the billet Conditioning department to be respected by the Billet Yard Operations.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Ensures implementation of the Company safety program in order to eliminate accidents.
- Performs safety audit in the department.
- Ensures and participates in implementations of Company training programs and ensures development of department’s personnel.
- Informs employees of performance expectations, monitors, and evaluates performance by providing coaching when required.
- Plans and communicates production schedule, sets, and defines priorities and deadlines, reports on production and delays, initiates preventives and correctives actions to meet deadlines.
- Ensures compliance to company regulations and policies. Ensures the usage of corrective measures/discipline on violations.
- In coordination with HR, administers the collective agreement, attempts to settle concerns/interpretations disputes at his/her own level and applies provision of the collective agreement.
- Recommends termination and retention of probationary employees.
- Maintains department ISO procedures and ensures adherence.
- Observes all safety rules.
- Ensure and verify accuracy of billet inventory received and on hand.
- Track slow movers and insure they are scheduled or disposed of in the most economical manner possible.
- Ensure the restricted billets are applied to orders as soon as possible.
- Monitor Melt Shop schedule and address the problem of billet locations.
- Supervise the work of their direct works.
- Complete daily shift report detailing workflow, specific or potential problems and any notable events.
- Track and record railcars on site being loaded/offloaded and report to shipping for release.
- Work with Rod Mill Management for best possible Billet Order line-ups to optimize productivity and work with Steel Plant management to ensure efficient scrap delivery.
- Work with Management to ensure a smooth and achievable operation of billet handling, billet conditioning and switching.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS**
- 5 years of relevant experience in Industrial, Rolling Mill, Shipping and/or Billet Yard operations
- Basic knowledge in metallurgy **preferred
- Strong commitment to Health & Safety
- Knowledge of the ISO Quality Management System
- Strong Inventory management background **a must
- Demonstrated planning and organizing skills
- Strong leadership and supervision skills
- Open minded and adapt quickly to change
- Ability to coordinate work amongst multiple groups
- Strong team player and excellent communication skills
- Bilingual: English and French (oral and written) **preferred

**CONDITIONS AND BENEFITS**
- Salary: 80k-95k _ according to experience.
- Permanent job - Full time
- Schedule: 12 hours days - 7am to 7pm - working every second weekend.
