- PEA - Regular- # of Hires Needed- 1- Category- Consulting Services- About this OpportunityThe Office of Campus Planning and Sustainability oversees all aspects of campus land use planning processes and facilitates the advancement of sustainability interests across the university. Campus planning and sustainability activities guide campus development and operations in accordance with the university’s mission, strategic priorities and its research and teaching needs. The scope of service for Office functions includes staff, students, faculty and the community as it relates to the university’s planning and sustainability interests.

**The salary range for this position is**:
**Recruitment range: $62,800- $69,237 starting salary** determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.

**Performance range: starting salary to max of $81,662** is available through annual performance increases.
- Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Manager, Sustainability, the Sustainability Coordinator serves as a facilitator and resource person in developing and implementing programs, activities and practices that assist in advancing the university's leadership position in sustainability and climate solutions. Extensive liaison and engagement is required with departments (operational, academics, research, and community/external relations, Indigenous community), student groups, personnel from other post-secondary institutions and the broader community.

Duties include coordinating and assisting in sustainability and climate action planning, developing sustainability indicators and reporting systems, conducting and monitoring sustainability reporting assessments, implementing sustainability initiatives, evaluating programs and campaigns, and reviewing project proposals, policies and plans through a sustainability lens. The position also includes managing student staff and their projects, preparing communication materials, engagement planning and participating in special events, committees or forums and providing advice and recommendations on various topics related to the development and implementation of climate and sustainability plans and policies.
- Job RequirementsUniversity degree in a science or social science discipline, along with a minimum of three (3) years of work experience in an area related to sustainability. A solid and in-depth knowledge base on sustainability matters related to climate change, energy, water, green buildings, transportation, food systems, waste management, natural areas and purchasing is essential.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

In addition, this position requires:

- Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
- Confident public speaking skills and experience in facilitating meetings
- Demonstrated customer service orientation
- Ability to build and maintain positive, effective working relationships with a diverse population and with all levels of university personnel, student body, community and stakeholders
- Ability to lead and support others through change
- Excellent time management skills and ability to juggle many projects/programs at once while meeting sensitive timelines
- Proven experience in problem solving, consensus building and effective decision making
- Proven track record achieving project goals on time and producing deliverables of high quality
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Demonstrated research and reporting skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Knowledge requirements include:

- Understanding and awareness of sustainability, climate action trends and best practices (mitigation, risks and adaptation), and climate change impacts
- Project management best practices
- Experience in engagement and campaign event planning
- Strong knowledge of Social Media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Hootsuite) and how each platform can be optimally deployed in different scenarios for sustainability outreach purposes
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
- Web content management systems such as Cascade
