**Position Summary**

The Human Resources Training Specialist will help build the skills of employees. The Training Specialist will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the new hire training curriculum, training new hires, and conducting refresh training and training for new programs with existing employees. For quality functions, the Human Resources Training Specialist will review and evaluate training programs in consultation with Human Resources Manager. The Training Specialist will also assume administrative duties as outlined in this job description.

**Key Responsibilities/Duties**

To work from a wholistic perspective, utilizing the teachings of the medicine wheel and Seven Grandfather Teachings.

To take personal responsibility to increase sensitivity, awareness and implementation of Beendigen’s cultural teachings and organizational practices in both professional conduct and work-related deliverables.

To provide assistance, consultation and resources for best practices to further integrate Indigenous practices, ways of knowing and culture into training programs and professional development plans.

To deliver and maintain new hire training and provide creative, effective classroom and remote instruction.

To develop training modules suitable for online and classroom instruction.

To manage classroom environment, analyze results and identify gaps in training needs.

To design leader and participant guides, job aids, training curriculum and other required coursework that is clear, concise and accurate.

To conduct comprehensive needs analysis to ensure that training fulfills the needs and objectives of the program and organization.

To monitor and evaluate training programs and provide feedback to Human Resources Manager.

In consultation with the Human Resources Manager, provide input into the development of employee development plans to include coaching, mentorship and provide metrics & feedback to the supervisor for annual appraisals.

In consultation with the Human Resources Manager, coordinate both internal and external team building activities at an organization-wide level.

Coordinating employee development training programs like; language courses, or health & safety courses, etc.

To work as part of the Human Resources team and provide coverage for the Human Resources Assistant when needed.

To evaluate current processes and identify areas of vulnerability and opportunities for improvement.

To participate in the management On-Call rotation.

To keep the Human Resources Manager promptly and fully informed of all issues or concerns and takes prompt corrective action where necessary.

To submit reports to the Human Resources Manager.

To assume some of the Human Resources Manager responsibilities in the absence of the supervisor, as per established succession plan.

**Other Duties**

To attend workshops, seminars and training pertaining to agency’s mandate.

To ensure Health and Safety compliance in the workplace by following policies, procedures and best practices and reporting any unsafe environments.

To be prepared to work in conjunction with the philosophy and mandate of the Organization.

To preserve confidentiality of all residents, clients, staff, students, volunteers and agency information.

To represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Any other duties as requested by the Human Resources Manager; commensurate with role.

**Key Selection Criteria**

**R**equired**

Successful completion of Human Resources Management Diploma or comparable diploma or minimum 3 years equivalent working experience in development, delivery and coordination of employment related training programs.

1 - 3 years’ experience in skills training development and presentation.

Exceptional facilitation, presentation and listening skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong writing skills, attentive to details and capacity to develop quality training material.

Highly proficient in time management, organization, planning and prioritization.

Proven initiative, positive attitude, team oriented, self-motivated and highly enthusiastic.

Ability to manage changing priorities, meet deadlines and adapt to a changing business environment.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport.

Knowledge of Indigenous culture, tradition, language and Indigenous community.

Proficiency with databases; WISH, iCarol preferred.
