**What you’ll do**

The Human and Organizational Performance Division (HOPD) supports the CNSC’s mission and mandate by providing regulatory leadership and expertise in human factors, human performance, and organizational performance.

Areas that may be of particular interest are:

- Human Performance Management,
- Human and Organizational Factors (HOF) aspects of small modular reactor technology,
- HOF aspects of nuclear power plant compliance activities,
- Safety Culture, and

You will have the opportunity to use your expertise to work as part of a team to:

- Assist in the support of CNSC’s regulatory framework
- Provide analytical support for the assessment of licensee submissions
- Participate in technical licensing and compliance work and/or assessments of licensee facilities
- Draft reports and other documentation
- Assist in managing projects milestones related to area of specialization.
- Attend national technical/scientific meetings and organizations.

**Essential Qualifications**:
**Education**:
University degree in Sciences, Engineering, Social Sciences, Human Factors, Psychology (Industrial, Organizational, Cognitive or Social), or an equivalent combination of education, experience and job knowledge.

**Language Requirements**:
English essential

**Experience**:

- Planning and executing compliance and licensing activities (e.g., conducting evaluations, inspections, audits and assessments) as a member of a team
- Written and verbal communication with staff and management on technical topics.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a team to manage project planning, conduct, and deliverables.

**Knowledge**:

- Basic knowledge of the nuclear or other processing industry including research, design, construction, operations and safety.
- Basic knowledge of contemporary organizational theories including those applied to high reliability organizations and how they can be applied to assess organization and management within a nuclear organization.
- Basic knowledge of safety cultures theories and the research in the field as it applies to high reliability organizations.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of the Canadian Nuclear Safety and Control Act, Regulations and supporting guidance documentation. Some understanding of other relevant legislation and standards (CSA, ISA, IEEE, ANSI, IAEA, NUREG, EPRI etc).
- Basic knowledge of licensing and compliance that may include inspection, investigation and audit techniques, procedures, and practices to support and participate in inspections.
- Basic knowledge of the principles of project management to support project timelines and reporting.
- Develop and maintain specialist knowledge by: reading scientific and technical journals, attending technical conferences, reading domestic and foreign safety assessments and regulatory practices, CNSC training courses, taking business and technical courses.
