**Advocacy and Stakeholder Relations Manager**:

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will support and advance Amgen Canada’s therapeutic and policy areas of priority to help shape solutions that provide equitable, optimal, and timely access for Amgen’s products.

The Advocacy and Stakeholder Relations Manager positions Amgen as a reputable and ethical partner with relevant collaborators, while developing and implementing customized collaborations to deliver measurable results.

Additionally, this person collaborates with cross-functional internal partners to develop and implement our partnership strategies in a way that meets the needs of and connects opportunities across the organization.

**Responsibilities**:

- Building foundational advocacy landscape reviews for emerging therapeutic areas for Amgen.
- Working with internal leadership to develop engagement strategies and patient group relations plan to address patient needs, necessary policy reforms and issues management specific to rare diseases (and additional TA).
- Representing advocacy within local/internal customer context and global/external context as required.
- Act as a central point of contact with relevant patient groups
- Identify and build relationships with appropriate partners to support educational, reimbursement and amplification tactics
- Coordinate national and regional collaborator activity for areas of responsibility
- Adhere to governance model and key principles for partner engagement as established through Global and Compliance SOPs
- Develop an advocacy strategy with each group that is aligned to internal organizational, reimbursement and policy objectives while respecting the independence of patient groups in decision-making
- Develop relationships built on trust and mutual value with disease-specific patient advocacy organizations.
- Leverage third party advocacy partnerships to support patient education and engagement Amgen’s medicines.
- Build relationships and assist in the development of organizational and PAGs as potential speakers and collaborators.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to identify projects to include patient perspectives and help support implementation of a patient-focused plan.
- Work with internal communications and corporate affairs colleagues to build external and internal communication plans related to patients
- Implement funding agreements and ensure diligent budget management
- Demonstrate Amgen’s Values and Behaviours internally and externally

**Basic Qualifications**:
Bachelors Degree

5+ years of biopharmaceutical experience with an adequate foundational understanding of the current Canadian pharmaceutical/biotechnology regulatory landscape.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- An established network of relationships with key agencies and partner/advocacy groups.
- Superior communication skills to effectively convey complex concepts and issues for those unfamiliar with advocacy as well as to the highest levels of partner groups and industry.
- Ability to demonstrate cross-functional approach to foster collaborative working relationships internally
- Integrates with the business, aligning around objectives and desired outcomes
- The ability to work effectively in a complex cross functional work environment characterized by matrixed team management and informal lines of authority.
- Superior skill in building trusting relationships, to create opportunities to effectively shape and co-design advocacy strategies and partner coalitions to support patients. These skills will be foundational to advance and defend the availability of Amgen’s innovative and biosimilar products, and to align on required policy reform in the complex multi-stakeholder healthcare environment.
- Ability to develop patient and medical professional advocacy strategies in challenging circumstances with demonstrated success in advancing important policy issues.
- Possesses and applies a long-term view of the health landscape in Amgen’s prioritized therapeutic areas.
- Experience in championing reforms and programs that will improve patient access to medicines and health outcomes
- Familiarity with biotechnology, basic pharmacology and therapeutics is an asset.
