Founded in 1918, CNIB is one of Canada’s oldest charities. We believe our new strategic plan, **The Way Forward**, will once again revolutionize the way we serve and support our community from coast to coast. We're looking for a mission-driven Coordinator, Community Engagement who is passionate about creating more accessible, inclusive, and equitable communities across Canada where people with low vision have unlimited opportunities and can experience life free from barriers and discrimination.
**Your Impact at CNIB**:
- Perform and coordinate programmatic, operational, administrative, and logístical responsibilities in the region. For example:
- Contribute to making CNIB Community Hubs a welcoming place for participants, volunteers, and staff - regularly participating in the local Hub’s staff schedule rotation.
- Support coordination and execution of the CNIB Mobile Hub in collaboration with CNIB SmartLife and other program areas, including traveling to communities within the region to deliver Mobile Hub.
- Assist volunteers in planning and coordinating program content for CNIB community programming.
- Represent CNIB in local communities, attending events, fostering local partnerships, and engaging with local stakeholders.
- Ensure understanding of, and compliance with, all CNIB's policies and procedures.
- Champion CNIB's high standards of participants and customer service, ensuring they are universally understood by interns and volunteers, and continuously upheld across all aspects of local operations.
- Develop the active volunteer base needed to support local programs and operations - helping make CNIB the organization of choice for volunteers and promoting our commitment to volunteer engagement at every opportunity.
- Lead by example in bringing our values to life - working with passion, determination, ambition, and a positive spirit to change people’s lives, and society itself.
- Build strong, positive relationships with program participants, and seek insight into their unique needs, goals and lived experiences.
- Proactively encourage and refer program participants to take advantage of CNIB programs and services that may benefit them, offering them opportunities to expand their support network and deepen their community engagement.
- Capture participant and volunteer data in CNIB’s client management system (Salesforce).
- Ability to manage conflicting deadlines and competing priorities in a timely and efficient manner.

**Education and Certifications**
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field.
**Experience and Qualifications**
- 2 to 4 years of experience in administration, customer service, and service delivery within a charity/not-for-profit organization or equivalent experience as deemed suitable by CNIB.
- Proven track record of success in volunteer coordination and administrative support role
- Excellent customer service expertise
- A detail-oriented approach to all you do
- Highly flexible and able to respond to new tasks
- Strong verbal and written communication and superior interpersonal skills. Portrays the appropriate professional image
- Good relationship/team builder and networking skills
- Knowledge of Accessibility Standards and best practices is an asset
- Must be able to work and travel independently within the northern Ontario geography.
- Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
- Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.
