About the Role

Reporting to the Supervisor of Accounting, the Accounts Payable Analyst is responsible for supporting the full cycle of accounts payable and related accounting responsibilities.

The Accounts Payable Analyst would possess strong verbal and written communication skills while responding promptly and professionally to internal and external stakeholders and would work in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of detailed accuracy.

The Accounts Payable Analyst will work as part of a cohesive team in a deadline-oriented environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

Accounts payable - 85%- Process high volumes of accounts payable invoices.- Ensure weekly manual payment runs are completed and cheques printed in accordance with supplier payment terms.- Ensure weekly statutory account payments are made with required calculated top-ups to achieve a balance between avoiding service disruptions and over-commitment of cash.- Proactively contact all suppliers to request updated statement of accounts and copies of outstanding invoices to reconcile accounts.- Act as a point of contact in Finance to suppliers and employees with invoice and expense claim inquiries.- Review and process employee expense claims and corporate credit card spend accounts.- Accurately create amortization schedules and prepare monthly prepaid journal entries.- Work closely with Procurement to help ensure purchases are coded correctly in the Workday system.- Critically assess required accruals for month end and prepare journal entries accordingly.- Reconcile various accounts payable related balance sheet accounts on a timely basis.- Critically assess the creation and/or changes of suppliers and ensure appropriate supporting documentation is provided.

Other - 15%- Support Accounts Receivable with assigned AR tasks and/or projects.- Assist and support the Senior Account Payable Analyst with daily responsibilities, appropriate coverage and other assigned tasks as required.- Complete other ad hoc projects as assigned.

About You- Minimum one (1) year of accounts payable experience, with a strong comprehension of accounting principles.- Prior experience in Workday Financials or another ERP system is considered ideal.- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Commerce or other relevant fields.- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and completing high priority tasks and/or inquiries.-
- Critical thinking and business analysis skills to interpret situations and present pragmatic solutions.- Able to work well independently and act as a point of contact to the business.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with both internal and external parties.- High level of attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills.- Team player with high energy and demonstrated initiative.- Ability to critically evaluate processes related to job responsibilities
