**Safety Administrative Assistant**

SOUTHLAND is seeking a Safety Administrative Assistant to support our Edmonton locations. This is a great opportunity to enhance your safety leadership skills and expand your knowledge in school bus operations within the transportation industry.

If you take on this role, you’ll learn to work in a fast-paced environment, effectively prioritize your work and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail. This role will allow you to work with a diverse workforce demographic and alongside safety professionals who are passionate about getting people Safely Home.

**Principal Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Assist in maintaining accurate safety records and investigation reports
- Collaborate on the documentation of collision/incident files with the company’s adjustors and insurers
- Contribute to the implementation of local safety programs, policies, safe work procedures
- Participate in safety meetings, inspections and transportation safety audits to identify and address potential hazards
- Monitor and improve safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety and transportation safety legislation

**Knowledge and Skills Required**:

- A Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver's abstract and a willingness to upgrade to a Class 2QS
- Completion of or working towards a post-secondary credential from an Occupational Health and Safety program (e.g. OHS certificate, degree, or diploma)
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) busing-related and transportation safety legislation
