Our client, Western Canadian Spill Services Ltd. (WCSS) is actively looking for an Equipment Coordinator to join their team. This organization embodies the energy industry's commitment to spill preparedness and environmental protection.
WCSS is an environmentally conscious not-for-profit oil spill cooperative owned by western Canada’s energy industry. Their Mission is to ensure that the ~500 member companies have access to cost-effective and best-in-class spill response training and equipment to supplement their own emergency preparedness and response programs.
**About the Role**
The Equipment Coordinator manages the maintenance of all WCSS spill response equipment, including the fleet of response boats/vessels, to ensure the assets are in a state of readiness. The Equipment Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that equipment is mobilized, de-mobilized, inventoried, and re-stocked for member company use and for WCSS training events. In addition, the Equipment Coordinator will participate in a one week per month on-call rotation.
Work is typically conducted during business hours Monday through Friday located in Acheson, AB reporting to the Operations Manager, however as an emergency response organization, this role is required to work occasional evenings, weekends and statutory holidays when necessary.
There is frequent travel required, in order to respond to emergencies and/or visit various equipment sites throughout the WCSS’s jurisdiction. The individual must be comfortable operating a 1-tonne pickup truck and towing trailers (enclosed cargo trailers and boats) of varying sizes and weights. Driver’s abstract review along with Drug and Alcohol screening will be conducted prior to hiring.
**Responsibilities**
- Manage and maintain the maintenance program by proactively completing equipment inspections, trouble shoot and fix equipment, travel to storage sites and conduct inventory inspections, work with vendors and have the ability to travel outside of Canada to attend training opportunities.
- Spill Response preparedness, inventory and oversee equipment return and decontamination with occasional on-site initial response assistance. Submit documentation to support invoices, and damaged or missing equipment.
- Assist with annual equipment budgets by identifying equipment needs, coordinating purchases and maintaining documentation.
- Maintain great relationships with equipment Custodians by assisting with equipment-related tasks and coordinating maintenance work of WCSS assets.
- Accurately track purchases and expenses to maintain budget goals, prepare status reports and represent WCSS at events when required.
**Qualifications**
- A related trade certificate or technical diploma
- Minimum 3 years experience in mechanical, maintenance and repair experience
- Experience operating different types of equipment including skid steers and jet boards in fast water environments
- Over 3 years of hands-on experience in a spill response role would be an asset
- Experience in troubleshooting, coordinating, or conducting repairs to equipment

Pay: $76,000.00-$108,000.00 per year
