What You’ll Do:
The Accounting Manager, Facilities oversees all internal and external accounting and reporting requirements for three clean-burning natural gas thermal facilities with combined annual revenues of $300M. As a Subject Matter Expert in your field, you will act as the ‘Controller’ of the facilities, which entails managing virtually all financial requirements, tax matters, long-term forecasting, and annual budgeting with support from the broader finance group for treasury and cash management. Reporting to the Senior Manager, you will also lead a high-performing financial analyst and work closely with senior management including Operations, Project Financing, and Tax groups.

Within a year, as you have created capacity in your role through streamlining and optimizing existing processes, you will have the opportunity to lead other Canadian renewable facilities (onshore wind or solar) and/or support the Northlandization of international renewable facilities, such as those in Europe or LATAM.

Key Responsibilities
- Review and finalize monthly and quarterly internal and external reporting, including financial forecasting and variance analysis, as well as quarterly reporting to lenders.
- Lead the annual facilities’ budget process by coordinating with the Operations team and helping develop business plans.
- Liaise with CRA, provincial tax authority, external tax consultant, and internal tax group about the facility’s tax matters with support from the tax team on any unique matters.
- Coordinate and oversee the monthly and quarterly close processes; this includes all financial reporting and management reporting requirements. Provide supporting documentation and assistance to internal auditors to support year-end audit and quarterly reviews.
- Review and finalize annual audited financial statements for each facility.
- Analyze the impact of new accounting pronouncements in coordination with the corporate accounting team.
- Learn and understand system functionalities of Workday / Maximo / Adaptive and contribute to enhancements and upgrades via testing.
- Prepare ad hoc analysis and presentation material to internal and external parties.

- Diligent: You have solid attention to detail, and you follow up with others where needed to ensure outstanding information or actions are complete. You are hands-on and will roll up your sleeves to complete deliverables within the required deadlines.

Qualifications and Experience
- 5+ years of progressively senior experience or a similar managerial role with one or more direct reports.
- Strong MS Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Experience with financial modelling and familiarity with financial systems.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish considered an asset.
