**PROJECT MANAGER, DALHOUSIE/NSH DEPARTMENT OF MEDICINE**

The Department of Medicine(DoM) is comprised of 15 Medical Divisions, including: Cardiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Hematology, Infectious Diseases, Medical Oncology, Nephrology, Neurology, Palliative Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Respirology and Rheumatology.

The Department includes more than 200 academic medical faculty (physicians).

The Project Manager (PM) is responsible to operationalize the Department of Medicine’s Strategic Plan initiatives and to develop, manage and implement process controls to support this work. The PM collaborates with key initiative leaders to identify and manage projects and to work with key collaborators to develop and implement an evaluation framework.

The PM performs a variety of tasks including, but not limited to,
- is responsible for the effective management, coordination, and overall integration of departmental initiatives including Strategic Plan initiatives, Departmental Survey Recommendations, Annual Report, optimization of DoM resources;
- consults with initiative leaders to develop a project plan and maps out roles and responsibilities, resource requirements, project goals and objectives as well as project scope and project risks;
- is responsible, through detailed planning, for the delivery of project goals within identified constraints (time, cost, resources, agreed quality standards) by direction of initiative leaders and the Strategic Plan Oversight Committee and by utilizing project management processes;
- oversees the scheduled tasks, deadlines, resources and milestones for stakeholders of the various initiatives;
- identifies schedule uncertainties and risks and subsequently develops mitigating strategies to reduce/eliminate the project risks;
- evaluates deliverables prepared by the team to ensure the work meets requirements and maintains a high level of quality within the scope of the project charter;
- develops and submits proposals to the Strategic Plan Oversight Committee;
- monitors, summarizes and communicates the progress of the initiative(s);
- successfully partners and collaborates with key stakeholders to help identify common objectives and align activities/projects to support attainment of an integrated or coordinated approach to achieve these;
- facilitates change management processes as initiatives are established, demonstrating strong problem solving, leadership, and communication skills.

**MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION**:

- Master’s degree preparation preferred (e.g. Masters of Health Administration/Postgrad Diploma Health Administration/Masters of Communication/Masters of Business Administration/Masters of Public Administration
- Baccalaureate degree in related field

**CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION/DESIGNATION**:
PMP Designation an asset

**NATURE AND AMOUNT OF EXPERIENCE**:

- A minimum of three to five years progressive experience in a coordinator/supervisory/management or administrative role, preferably in a tertiary level academic healthcare/university setting, and a demonstrated ability to thrive in a demanding environment.
- Demonstrated experience in initiating and managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrates high degrees of independent decision-making, self-direction, motivation, change management knowledge, team building, and leadership skills.
- Exhibits analytical thinking as well as creative problem solving ability and willingness to consider uncharted or novel ideas related to trends and changes in health care
- Health systems training an asset
- Possesses superior multi-tasking abilities and an ability to follow projects through to completion, while respecting tight deadlines, and cooperating with stakeholders.
- Proven communication, organizational, and analytical, and time management skills.
- Possesses excellent interpersonal, facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
- Computer proficiency and knowledge of MSOffice(Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams); Adobe Pro, Zoom, advanced Outlook experience, internet).
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teams and committees to achieve excellence in patient care.Ability to collect, analyze, interpret and present data for effective evidence-based decision-making.
- Continuous quality improvement skills.
- Ability to work in a constant changing environment that requires adaptability and flexibility.

**Salary**: $65,000.00-$72,000.00 per year
