**Spirit of the Children Society** is looking for a Human Resources Generalist to join our team in New Westminster, BC.
‘Spirit’ is a non-profit Society providing services to at risk children and youth in the Indigenous community. We have many programs and supports serving clients in New Westminster, Burnaby, and the Tri Cities. We promote self-care and a healthy work/life balance for our employees.

**Job Summary**:
Working closely with the Executive Director and Operations Manager, our Human Resources Generalist is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the HR function including employee relations, benefits, human resources development, employee screening and selection, and other related HR activities. This person will assist with development and implementation of human resources policies and procedures to support the Society.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide personnel policy and procedure guidance to employees and management
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of Provincial and Federal employment law and compliance requirements
- Develop and maintain process regarding sexual harassment, discrimination, harassment and assist with any necessary investigations and disciplinary actions
- Coordinate corrective actions and performance plans
- Participation in safety coordination and meetings
- Respond to human resources related inquiries
- Assist with enrollments, changes of employee benefits programs.
- Maintain personnel record requirements
- Identify future staffing needs and assist with development of job descriptions
- Coordinate practicum students, volunteers, and elder participation.
- Create internal communications regarding staff changes
- Perform background checks, and reference checks
- Administer on-boarding and coordinate orientations
- Coordinate evaluations, professional development plans, and self-care planning
- Collaborate with Executive Management to develop effective recruitment strategies
- Work with the office supervisor to space plan for additional staff and ensure facilities security and safety requirements are met

**Requirements**:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred; Master’s degree preferred but not required.
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, HR database, job posting platforms
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize in a dynamic work environment, excellent problem-solving abilities, ability to work independently and as a team player.
- High degree of professionalism and comfort setting professional boundaries.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
- Knowledge of Aboriginal communities, societies, and service providers within the Circle 6 area

**Salary**: $58,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
