**Clerical Assistant**:
**Primary Purpose**: To provide administrative support to the Cameco Chair in Indigenous Health and Wellness and Pewaseskwan (the Indigenous Wellness Research Group).

**Typical Duties**:This position supports all clerical aspects of Pewaseskwan as outlined below:

- Calendaring and scheduling meetings for the Cameco Chair.
- Interact with and respond to requests from internal and external stakeholders including Indigenous community members, Elders and Knowledge Holders
- Act as a resource for faculty, students and staff.
- Process travel and expense claims both for the Cameco Chair and Pewaseskwan.
- Draft, distribute, update and collect documentation and correspondence, including but not limited to, compiling and drafting agendas, letters, completing meeting minutes.
- Prepare, track and ensure action items are completed.
- Schedule travel and activities, including but not limited to, accommodation, transportation, catering, signage, audio-visual equipment, technology, documents, printing, and correspondence.
- Act as the main point of contact for inquiries.
- Maintain contact lists and databases.
- All other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**

**Education**:Completion of Grade 12 and a recognized post-secondary administrative assistant program is required. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

**Skills**:

- Highly effective interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with coworkers.
- Ability to prioritize and function in a demanding setting with numerous, often competing deadlines.
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, Indigenous community members, Elders and Knowledge Holders.
- Handling interactions with professionalism (tact, discretion, confidentiality and cultural sensitivity).
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to recognize and analyze problems, to propose effective solutions and to refer issues to other staff as appropriate.
- Ability to exercise discretionary decision making as well as making decisions according to established policies.

Success in this role requires balancing the ability to work independently and as part of a team; following instructions, policies and procedures while exercising initiative; setting priorities and seeking assistance when needed. **Applicants must demonstrate efficiency with Microsoft Office software** and would benefit from knowledge of University and College procedures. The successful applicant should value diversity, have an awareness of Indigenous contemporary issues and demonstrate sufficient knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture and history.
