Reporting to the Research Engineers, the student will work on all stages of R&D from pure research to trials, troubleshooting, implementation, and scale up for our numismatic, bullion, and refinery operations with a concentration on our numismatic business.

Projects and priorities vary from semester to semester and cover a wide range of topics. Previous students have worked on, and sometimes led projects related to material flow of precious metals, PVD coatings, printing technologies, electroplating, niobium anodization and physical manipulation, precious metal refining, casting, and by-product treatment among other projects.

We are looking for multitalented individuals with a balance of pure research and hands-on skills with an aptitude for creativity. As researchers we are always interested in new ideas and designs for creating intriguing new products or improving our operations.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Providing hands-on and engineering/technical skills to complete projects related to metal processing including die production, blanking and stamping of metals, smelting, hydrometallurgical process of precious metals.
- Conducting laboratory and pilot scale testing of processes and prototype products required for project/process implementation of innovative process and products.
- Collecting and analyzing data, including assisting in the creating of reports for assigned tasks in the research and development group.
- Participating in the development of process instructions, testing reports, product design criteria, process procedures, and coordination of production trials.
- Participating in initiatives related to maintaining and improving upon processes related to health and safety.

**Requirements**:

- 3rd or 4th year in a University program is desirable.
- Knowledge and experience of metal processing and metal forming; physical metallurgy
- Familiarity with process control and documentation of process and projects.
- Good problem solving skills.
- Good project management skills.
- Knowledge and experience of DoE, FMEA.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work with others is essential.
- Prior exposure and knowledge to ISO environment and work experience in Lean Manufacturing environment is an asset
- Computer skills in terms of Word processing and data analysis using Microsoft Office software.
- Bilingualism, French and English would be an asset.
- Canadian citizen/permanent resident status
