**WHAT YOU'LL DO**:
This position is a contract position for 18 months covering a maternity leave. Reporting to Grantbook's VP, Finance & Administration and working closely with our Finance Lead and our Resourcing Manager, the People Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting the Team & Culture function at Grantbook, maintaining a positive employee experience for our team located in Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia. This role is an indispensable point of contact for staff at all levels, in matters relating to employee relations, employee communications, training and development, performance management, recruitment, and policy implementation. In this role, the People Operations Specialist will work to effectively support the company's business strategy, objectives and values.

**YOUR PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Talent/People**:

- Mitigates risk to the organization through monitoring employment standards and human rights legislation, utilizing fair, legal, and standardized processes for performance issues and other employee relations matters
- Working with hiring sponsors and the Resourcing Manager, supports and stewards the end-to-end recruitment process. Ensures compensation decisions maintain internal equity and are aligned with external market signals
- Supports the design and development of accurate job descriptions and ensures fair, equitable, and competitive total compensation that aligns with market data and the company's strategy and business goals
- Initiates the Grantbook orientation process for new employees, working with Resource Manager and Leads to steward onboarding, and conducts employee offboarding tasks including exit interviews
- Acts as a champion for DEIB initiatives within the organization, utilizing and updating HR data points and metrics to support these initiatives
- Supports the Leadership team and Leads in ensuring a positive employee journey from onboarding, training and development to offboarding.
- With support from Grantbook's social committee, leads the organization of employee events, including our annual retreat, to enhance employee experience and engagement
- Responsible for the composition and rollout of Team & Culture surveys and targeted/pulse surveys; supports the delivery of results and helps to identify and implement action plans and employee communications
- Updates the Team Handbook and employment contract templates to comply with legislation, and ensures compliance-related training is completed
- Co-leads Joint Health & Safety Committee, participating in workplace inspections and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
- Supports our Marketing Lead in stewarding the B Corp recertification process, recommending practices to increase positive impact for Grantbook's team members, clients, the local community, and the environment
- Supports Grantbook staff on all HR-related matters relating to benefits, employment verification, the HRIS system (including time off and other employee self-service processes)
- Supports our VP, Finance and Administration in administering our Employee Share Ownership Plan

**WHAT YOU CAN OFFER**:

- Successful completion of a University or College program, preferably in Social Sciences or Human Resources Management, is required; CHRP designation (or working towards it) is preferred
- 2-4 years of HR and operational experience in similar roles in a consulting firm and/or in the nonprofit/grantmaking/technology sectors
- Knowledge of relevant and up-to-date provincial employment legislation
- Highly proficient in Excel with advanced abilities in Word/Google Docs and PowerPoint/Google Slides
- Strong oral and written communication skills; highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to convey information to and to work effectively with all levels of the organization in a team-based environment
