**Position Summary**:
This role will encompass functions related to safety and the environment. Working closely with hourly and salaried employees as well as treating practitioners, and the Worker’s Compensation Board to manage claims, this role will coordinate the return-to-work process, as well as identify opportunities for rehabilitation, legislative compliance, cost recovery, and injury prevention.

**Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to**:

- Work with the Management Team and hourly employees to promote a positive safety culture
- Be the primary point of contact for WCB/WSIB matters as they relate to the Worker, Employer and Worker’s Compensation Board
- Coordinate with third party consultants to collaboratively manage claims
- Complete monthly reports relating to injury frequency, severity, tracking, costs and trend analysis; present monthly report to management
- Keep accurate and up to date files
- Be involved in the Return-to-Work coordination along with Accommodation Plans for all work-related and non-work-related disability claims
- Ensure maintenance and improvement of the Return-to-Work Program in accordance with the Workplace Safety and Prevention Services model
- Monitor and review workplace accommodations and return to work programs
- Ensure that all governmental legislation is being followed at all time
- Maintain legislative compliance for OHS, WSIA, and privacy legislation
- Assist in conducting inspections of the workplace ensuring safety standards are met and being enforced consistently
- Support planning projects aimed at integrating health and safety activities into the company’s production efforts
- Provide support in addressing non-compliance offenses
- Ensure timely investigation and thorough reporting of health and safety incidents and hazard assessments
- Participate in the monthly Joint Health & Safety Committee
- Participate in monthly Workplace Inspections and provide corresponding report to management
- Review job site safety compliance inspections including hazard analysis, risk assessments, safe work procedures; identify and provide risk assessment recommendations
- Coordinate meeting between employee & operations following a work place injury/incident
- Research, plan, organize and conduct training programs/seminars
- Advise on improvements in tracking and reporting procedures
- Coordination of Attendance Management Program

**Environmental / Sustainability**
- Provide assistance to the Distribution Centre to achieve and maintain ISO 14001 certification
- Identify potential sustainability projects
- Participate as a member in Environmental / Sustainability team
- Periodically act as a team leader to special task forces or teams

**Required Skills and Experience**:

- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) ideally in Health & Safety or Environmental related discipline
- Integrative thinker and excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong work ethic, ability to multi-task in a high-pressure work environment
- Attention to detail, organization skills
- High initiative, self-motivation, self-starter, and strong, interactive team player
- Excellent time management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication skills (Written/Verbal) with excellent presentation skills
- Be competent in Microsoft Outlook, Work, Excel, Power Point
- In-depth working knowledge of OHS, WSIB, WSIA, privacy, and Human Rights Legislation

**Preferred Skills and Experience**:

- Prefer two to three years’ experience in abilities management with focus on Health & Safety
- Familiarity with working within a unionized environment an asset
