About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager to join our team at Aecon Concessions. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting a health, safety and environmental culture within our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct site-specific safety orientations for workers, owners, and clients;
  • Train supervisors and staff on Aecon's Health, Safety and Environmental Manual;
  • Coordinate training on fall protection, confined space entry, traffic control, WHMIS, respiratory protection, emergency response;
  • Update Material Safety Data Sheets as required;
  • Develop workplace plans, such as emergency evacuations, fire emergencies, traffic controls, and fall protection;
  • Distribute safety materials, supplies, and equipment;
  • Promote Aecon's safety system to potential industry clients;
  • Participate as a management member of Joint Health and Safety Committees;
  • Inspect project facilities and recommend corrective actions;
  • Coordinate activities of site-safety coordinators;
  • Work with the Claims Administrator to assist with workers' compensation claims and associated activities;
  • MEDIATE HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUES FOR RESOLUTION;
  • Prepare and assist with external safety audits;
Requirements
  • A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in the construction industry in a Health and Safety role;
  • WorkSafeBC Occupational First Aid Attendant Level 3 is required;
  • CANADIAN REGISTERED SAFETY PROFESSIONAL (CRSP) AND/OR CERTIFICATE OF RECOGNITION (COR) AUDITOR REQUIRED;
  • NATIONAL CONSTRUCTION SAFETY OFFICER (NCSO) IS REQUIRED;
  • Ability and experience working night shift;
  • Background in Training and/or Education and/or experience delivering EHS Training programs to individuals and groups;
  • Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
  • Excellent meeting and training facilitation skills;
  • Adaptable and flexible to an ever-changing environment;
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract;
Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $90,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
