SHARC International Systems Inc. (“**SHARC Energy**”) is a pioneer in the growing Wastewater Energy Transfer (“**WET**”), an emerging renewable energy source. SHARC Energy supplies and services WET systems that provide the opportunity for recovering thermal energy from wastewater or rejecting thermal energy into wastewater for the purpose of creating low carbon and electrically efficient heating and cooling systems. These systems can be used by industrial, commercial, multi-family residential buildings and district energy/utility providers to offset and significantly reduce the energy requirements and carbon emissions associated with hot water, space heating and cooling. The Company’s business has been built through advocating and promoting the industry for over 10 years, patented and proprietary technology and the delivery and installation of nearly 30 installations in 4 countries including the current largest wastewater district energy system in North America.
The core responsibilities of the role are divided as follows:
Accounting
- Manage and/or perform full cycle accounting functions at the consolidated and subsidiary levels.
- Supervise team of accountants on AP and AR functions.
- Manage payroll for both Canadian and U.S. employes, including related statutory reporting and payments
- Prepare monthly excise tax returns and reconciliations.
- Review weekly accounts payable runs for final approval and A/R projections.
- Perform monthly multi-currency financial statement consolidations.
- Manage accurate and timely month-end close and IFRS/US GAAP reporting requirements.
- Assist in cash management and budgeting analysis
- Report monthly consolidated financial statements to CFO and perform detailed budget to actual reviews.
Financial Reporting
- Assist in developing internal control framework.
- Critical team member of financial statement audit process for consolidated group of entities.
- Assist CFO on developing accounting policies and controls as business expands.
- Work closely with CFO on monthly financial requirements for various stakeholders.
- Other ad-hoc financial projects as directed by CFO.
**Requirements**:
- Minimum CPA designation
- Previous experience working at a national public practice firm.
- Minimum 2 years of managing full cycle accounting functions.
- Good understanding of IFRS/US GAAP accounting principles.
- Strong understanding of financial statement audit processes and requirements.
- Must have ability and motivation to “roll up your sleeves” and be a resource where needed
Experience working with accounting systems including Quickbooks Desktop & Online.
- Must have impeccable attention to detail and be highly organized.
- Bonus skills:
- Experience/background in FP&A
- Experience working with ZOHO CRM
