Kontur Geotechnical Consultants Inc. (Kontur) is a full-service geotechnical consulting firm that provides engineering consultation and construction field reviews for a wide array of projects and clients throughout British Columbia and Alberta. Kontur is growing and is seeking a full-time, permanent _Controller to_ become part of Kontur’s team. This position will be based at the main, Port Coquitlam, location.
The Controller will act as a Senior Manager to oversee Kontur’s financial operations, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, compliance with regulations, and effective financial management. The Controller will have a background in full-cycle accounting and strong bookkeeping skills. Key responsibilities include financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, compliance, risk management, and team leadership. This position requires a forward-looking mindset to provide vital insights to support strategic decision-making and ensure the financial health of the company.
- High School Diploma + Post-secondary Certificate or Diploma in Accounting or Book-keeping
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field
- OptionalCertification as a CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) in British Columbia
- Minimum 5 to 10 years with Office Administration, Bookkeeping, and/or Accounting (receivables, payables, payroll)
- Minimum 3 years in a Supervisory or Managerial position
- Minimum 1 year in an engineering firm, law office, or accounting firm, setting.
- Must possess a comprehensive understanding of all book-keeping and accounting methods and best practices.
- Must possess a good understanding of applicable regulatory requirements related to book-keeping and accounting.
- Excellent computer literacy - must be proficient with Microsoft 365 (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe, Bluebeam, and accounting software such as Deltek Vantagepoint or equivalent.
- Extremely organized - must be able to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, set goals, and develop specific systems to achieve those goals.
- Outstanding communicator - must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex information with clarity and precision.
- Excellent problem solver - must be detail-oriented and able to evaluate complex issues to identify root causes and develop solutions that can be properly implemented.
- Leads and manages with accountability, integrity, and respect.
- Poses an attitude that is “easy-going”, conscientious, and open.
- Must take initiative to perform tasks reliably and diligently in a timely manner.
- Must be adaptable and able to learn new skills, adjust to new situations, and thrive in a changing environment.
- Must be resilient to cope with challenges and to move forward from mistakes or setbacks.
This is a full-time permanent position. Compensation ranging from $80,000 to $120,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is also eligible to participate in Kontur’s Group Benefits, Performance Bonus, and Continued Professional Development plans/policies.
