**Position**: Human Resources Manager

**Reporting to**: VP- Human Resources

**Role Purpose**: The Human Resources Manager will play a critical role in translating business needs into innovative and responsive HR solutions while overseeing the full range of HR activities within the bakery. The key focus is to help drive business success through organizational effectiveness, talent management, change management, employee engagement and proactive employment practices and policies.

**Roles & Responsibilities**:
**LABOUR RELATIONS**:

- Manages a proactive Employee Labour Relations strategy that enables and maintains positive relations within a unionized environment.
- Performs all investigations along with the union steward for all disciplinary investigations
- Delivers suggestions to VP HR and Director Operations of recommended level of discipline
- Assists Supervision with delivery of discipline

**GENERAL HR**:

- Build relationships with team members on the plant floor and support Operations in achieving targets.
- Reviews, recommends, and implements changes of the organization's Human Resource policies, procedures and practices; effectively communicates these changes and ensures that proper compliance is followed.
- Drives effective recruitment, pre-boarding, and onboarding processes to attract, engage and retain sustainable talent into the organization and throughout the employee lifecycle.
- Analyzes trends and business metrics to develop solutions and changes to programs, policies, and practices; Act as a change agent to drive innovation and process improvements.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of trends and changes in human resource management, legislation, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Consults with legal counsel as needed/appropriate.
- Manages training and development programs for both hourly and salaried employees.
- Manages a proactive Employee/Labour Relations strategy that enables and maintains positive relations within a unionized environment.
- Manage and evaluate the company’s total rewards program to ensure cost effectiveness and competitiveness. Assist senior management in the annual review, preparation and administration of the organization's wage and salary program.
- Seeks and gathers information from multiple sources including business metrics, exit interviews, associate engagement surveys, and other conversations with employees and managers to evaluate all elements of the employment relationship to recommend action plans where appropriate to improve work relationships, build morale, boost employee engagement, and increase productivity and retention.
- Recommends, evaluates and participates in staff development for the organization.
- Develops and maintains a human resource information system that meets the organization's HR information needs.
- Comply with all company, customer, and legislative food safety, health & safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Supervises the staff of the human resource department.

**HEALTH & SAFETY**:

- Oversees the Company Health and Safety Program
- Oversees the functioning of the JHSC
- Manage all Early and Safe Return to Work of employees
- Reporting of all claims to the WSIB and maintains all communications with the WSIB
- Manages all disability claims and employees off of work, including non-occupational injuries
- Maintains safety metrics
- Develops and rolls out all annual safety training

**Required education, skills and qualifications**:
**EDUCATION**:

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related discipline
- Professional HR Certification (i.e.; CHRP) is an asset

**SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS**:

- 5 + years of Manufacturing experience - Food and beverage industry preferred
- Experience working in a unionized environment with demonstrated success in the areas of Workforce Planning, Talent Management, Compensation, Benefits, HRIS, Health and Safety and other HR functional areas.
- Self-motivation, positive attitude, high energy, and a strong work ethic
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), presentation and facilitation skills.
- Ability to deal with a variety of front-line industrial relations issues
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to effectively plan, set priorities, and manage several complex projects sim
