Assistant Committee Clerk

Under the general supervision of the Manager of the Decision Making Process, the Assistant Committee Clerk provides assistance to the Executive Policy Committee, Standing Policy Committees, Community Committees, Ad Hoc Committees, as well as all other committees of Council as required.

**As the **_Assistant Committee Clerk _**you will**:

- Arrange and attend meetings of Ad Hoc Committees (may include evenings, as required).
- Provide assistance to various Committees of Council.
- Assist in the supervision of support staff.
- Compile and prepare written materials, including agendas, dispositions, minutes, correspondence.
- Provide committee research, accurately record and communicate decisions of Committees, monitor and track matters in accordance with the Procedure and Organization By-laws and other policies of Council.
- Act as an Election Officer.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the cyclical functions of the department (Elections, Board of Revision Assessment Appeals, Boards and Commissions, etc.).

**Your education and qualifications include**:

- Certificate, Degree or Diploma in Business Administration or Public Administration, or related education and experience.
- Ability to exercise personal initiative and sound judgment.
- Ability to work effectively with elected officials, administration and media.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision and prioritize work load.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to undertake research and prepare departmental reports as required.
- Ability to deal discreetly with highly confidential matters.
- Ability to supervise, coach and mentor junior staff.
- Ability to work under pressure, set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of the political and administrative structure and processes.

**Conditions of employment**:

- Ability to work extended and flexible hours (evening are required).
