Sales Support Specialist

The Sales Support Specialist (SSS) plays an integral part in the Sales team by enabling them to achieve higher results in sales objectives. The fundamental function of this role is to support the region’s Sales Team and Leaders, allowing for positive growth for the business. The SSS handles many of the onboarding and associated responsibilities with Account Management which allows Sales Team members to focus on new business development with new and existing customers. A high focus on attention to detail, focus and organizational skills will be leveraged for success.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Provide support to the East Regional Sales Team, in the areas of presentations, pricing proposals, analysis and supporting account management activities for their customers.
- Support with New Business onboarding including but not limited to aligning Business expectations with affected departments
- Post on-boarding track New Business results for accuracy and profitability
- Support the Regions Account Manager’s in rate and volume proposals, including RFPs
- Assists Customer Service with establishing customer volume commitments
- Regularly identify revenue quality opportunities, working closely with Pricing & Analytics.
- Manage and maintain a listing of Rate Expirations and proactive Customer Value Analysis (CVA)
- Follow up, pursue and provide a list of ‘Open Opportunities’ to the appropriate Regional Account Manager
- Involvement and engagement with the Region’s key Customers, as required
- Ensuring critical information has been captured and updated in CRM for the Region’s account base of New and Existing business.
- Take an active lead in capturing, owning and following up on Sales takeaways from Operations
- Continually and regularly contribute to process improvement initiatives in the sales arena and existing processes
- Provides regional, competitor and market vertical support to the Sales Team
- Work closely with Operations and Analytics to develop a process that provides regional forecasts and seasonality spikes to align with demand and opportunity
- Support and challenge customer freight struggles and risks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with all levels of staff,
- Sound analytical and critical thinking skills,
- Advanced MS Office skills, adept at learning and adapting to new technologies and software as required
- Proven ability to problem solve and create solutions,
- Exceptional decision making and organizational skills,
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills,
- The ability to thrive in a fast-pace, deadline-oriented environment.
